Obesity and diabetes are very seldom captured in disability data (as a primary diagnosis), yet we know they increase the risk factors for so many other chronic conditions, including mental health, musculoskeletal disorders and cardiovascular disease. I'm hopeful that as people get access to obesity medications, over time, we'll see a reduction in drug and disability claims for other chronic conditions. I'm excited to watch the data trends change. While there may be an initial increase in costs for covering obesity meds, I think the savings will become evident with time!
