COMESA Unveils Key Studies on Horticulture Value Chains 🌍 On July 30, 2024, COMESA Assistant Secretary General for Programs, Amb. Dr. Mohamed Kadah, initiated the dissemination of two vital studies focused on the horticulture value chain. These studies are: 1. Statistical Data Requirements: A comprehensive outline of data needs within horticulture value chains. 2. Survey Framework: A framework for collecting accurate horticulture production statistics. In a virtual dissemination event, Amb. Kadah highlighted the significant data gaps in the sector, noting the challenges these gaps pose in evaluating the impact on farmers, employment, and GDP. He underscored the need for standardized data collection tools and expressed hope that these studies will inspire investment in data systems and surveys. This initiative, supported by the European Union, aligns with COMESA's Medium Term Strategic Plan (2021-2025), focusing on enhancing regional competitiveness and productivity through data-driven policies.
