How I avoided 3 common pitfalls (& major headaches) when scaling my business in Pune. All 3 are common like a disease among entrepreneurs. Some call it the shiny object syndrome. It goes like this -> 1) Once they get fixated on an idea 2) they neglect careful execution 3) as a result, their plans don’t always work out. So when I decided to scale in a whole new (and thriving) market like Pune, I made sure to avoid it by doing the following: 1> I refused to jump on the idea without preparation. I thoroughly researched Pune’s real estate industry, performance, and important players. I also built relationships with the most reputable developers. 2> I refused to pile extra work onto my team. I knew we needed experienced team players with deep knowledge of Pune’s real estate scene. We ended up hiring 7-10 new people for our team. 3> I didn’t start with a compact space. Some suggested a co-working space. But I wanted more than just fancy desks for our office. I wanted our Pune presence to be strong since Day 1. So we got ourselves a nice office to start operations. I believe if your target is large, then you'll need better resources as well. Entrepreneurship isn't always about making big plans, it's about executing those plans too.
