Presenting 🥁 🥁 🥁 The Great Acquisition Balancing Act! I recently announced The Dee Set Group’s acquisition by Acosta Europe. Now that the dust has somewhat settled and a couple of the plates have stopped spinning, I'll be honest... Leading an acquisition of this size was brutal! Preparing the business for this next phase of growth was a huge undertaking and a full-time job in itself. A few reflections: 1️⃣ When you’re talking due diligence, it really is a case of no stone left unturned. 2️⃣ Knowing who to bring in and when to bring them in is crucial. The amount of data required is wild and requires support from those closest to it, but timing also needs to be considered. I kept reminding myself that "No deal's done until it's done”. 3️⃣ Prioritising my health and energy levels was vital. I scheduled exercise in my calendar, prepped meals in advance and planned travel to allow for decent sleep ahead of big meetings. 4️⃣ Communicating the deal to our colleagues was by far the best piece of it all. To stand up and share the news was nothing short of magical. 5️⃣ What an experience! I’ve started businesses, I’ve lost businesses, I’ve acquired businesses and now I’ve experienced the other side of an acquisition. It’s been a fascinating journey full of unknowns, firsts and lessons. Managing this acquisition has been such a rewarding experience, and I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone in person over the next few months.

After nearly seven years to the day, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the Savant/ACTIVE group, with this week being my final hurrah. The recent merger between ACTIVE and Savant has been an exciting chapter of the business's ever-growing story, and I could not be prouder of how the team and business have reacted. A big thank you to the ACTIVE team members who made me feel welcomed and valued. On reflection of my time here, I have learned, grown, and been challenged in more ways than I could have ever imagined, which is exactly what I hoped for when signing on with the business! I can confidently say there are many business challenges that we have faced, and given the experience I have now, I may have handled those differently, but I am proud to say there are very few instances of people issues I think I would change. Empathy, morality, and supporting good humans appear to have been a winning approach for our team. I have always been a firm believer in employing smart people to do smart work, creating an environment to empower them for growth, and supporting them to be the best they can be on any given day. In this role, I have been privileged to have experienced both sides of this. I would like to think my greatest achievement at work is that my efforts in this space will make a lasting impact on the culture and people of the business, (which I quietly think is a free hit to myself, given the rockstar calibre of the ever-growing team we have in place). Not a bad effort from someone who learned 99% of their management skills from Michael Scott on The Office. Between multiple locations, varying ownership structures, rounds of funding, policy reform, wholesale market collapses, emerging tech, and much more, it truly has been one fun ride and one that I would do ten times over! A special thank you to Darren Lines and Dan Porter for their endless support, fun, and friendship over the years. As for what is next, it is time for a quick personal break to become the ultimate Olympics armchair expert before seeking out the next long-term challenge. If anyone in my network has anything they think might be interesting, even if it is a bit left field, please reach out (once the Olympics are over)!

"What questions do you have for our movers?" I was just talking with Antonio, a mover/driver who has been with Home Sweet Home STL for almost six years. Tony is quiet, but so thoughtful. Which is why we asked him to come to our board meeting this coming Monday to share his thoughts about the work we do with our board of directors. I had a number of prompts that I shared with Antonio, including: 🔹 What is the best part about your job? 🔹 What is the most difficult part about your role? 🔹 What do you wish people knew about the work that we do? My goal with inviting staff to share at board meetings isn't to glamorize what we do - but it is to offer an insight about the depth and challenges of what we do AND to share the amazing people that we have as part of this mission. Antonio didn't like my prompts, 🤣 but he did want to know, "What questions does the board have for me?" So - what would you ask one of our movers if you had the chance?

The Value a Good M&A Advisor brings to the process
I wanted to share a 5 star review that we received this morning from a buyer. It highlights the value a good M&A Advisor brings to the table. We are glad to have Joe on the team! Our recent acquisition was our first, and Joe Lieberman with IAG M&A Advisors played a pivotal role in making it a smooth experience. Although he was the seller’s agent, Joe felt more like a partner in the process, working with both sides to ensure we reached a successful close. His professionalism and friendly demeanor made each step easier, and he brought creativity and dedication to overcoming challenges along the way. Joe even attended the closing to ensure all details were handled meticulously. This level of service went beyond his obligations, and it was clear that he cared about a positive outcome for everyone involved. I would gladly work with Joe again on future projects. How many direct from consumer acquisitions have you made this month? Every internet lead and RO equates to 1.4 opportunities for acquisition which means an average dealer has over 400 vehicles their shoppers are looking to sell or trade this month. Are you tapping into all these opportunities? #AutoAcquire dealers acquire the valuable in-market vehicles first because they are in front of the shopper before the competitor even knows there is a car to be sold or traded. You could be that dealer in front! #automotivesales #dealersresultscomefirst #cardealer #automotive #cardealership Shannon 💁🏼♀️ Prisacariu Whitney Murphy Pureinfluencer, LLC
