Greg Phillips’ Post

Presenting 🥁 🥁 🥁 The Great Acquisition Balancing Act! I recently announced The Dee Set Group’s acquisition by Acosta Europe. Now that the dust has somewhat settled and a couple of the plates have stopped spinning, I'll be honest... Leading an acquisition of this size was brutal! Preparing the business for this next phase of growth was a huge undertaking and a full-time job in itself. A few reflections: 1️⃣ When you’re talking due diligence, it really is a case of no stone left unturned. 2️⃣ Knowing who to bring in and when to bring them in is crucial. The amount of data required is wild and requires support from those closest to it, but timing also needs to be considered. I kept reminding myself that "No deal's done until it's done”. 3️⃣ Prioritising my health and energy levels was vital. I scheduled exercise in my calendar, prepped meals in advance and planned travel to allow for decent sleep ahead of big meetings. 4️⃣ Communicating the deal to our colleagues was by far the best piece of it all. To stand up and share the news was nothing short of magical. 5️⃣ What an experience! I’ve started businesses, I’ve lost businesses, I’ve acquired businesses and now I’ve experienced the other side of an acquisition. It’s been a fascinating journey full of unknowns, firsts and lessons. Managing this acquisition has been such a rewarding experience, and I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone in person over the next few months.
