My comments from #propertysummit during the week covered by the Sunday Business Post. Main points were that the type of rent cap in Ireland is a deterrent to investment, which is needed to deliver on our housing targets. Investors used to rental regulation but needs to be able to link to inflation over the longer term. Tenants should be protected so could link to lease rather than unit. Also there have been a huge amount of policy changes affecting the residential market - all with the aim to improve things, but taken together has created a heightened side of risk for the investment community. Also great analysis on the day provided by Michael Byrne on the various political parties and their housing proposals.
