It's Fire Prevention Week and this year’s theme is “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You!” Homes today burn hotter and faster due to synthetic materials, leaving inhabitants with only 2-3 minutes to escape in the event of a fire. Early warnings from working smoke alarms can be life-saving. Fire Prevention Week is observed every year during the week of October 9th to remember the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which tragically killed over 250 people and destroyed more than 17,000 structures. Now is the perfect time to make fire safety a priority in your home and community, so take time this week to test your smoke / CO alarms and replace any broken or expired alarms, and then encourage those around you to do the same! Let’s work together to keep our homes and families safe! #FirePreventionWeek #SmokeAlarmsSaveLives #firesafety #smokealarms #fireprotection

Fire Prevention Month is observed in October and focuses on raising awareness about fire safety, prevention, and the importance of being prepared for emergencies. It’s an annual event aimed at educating the public, especially families, schools, and workplaces, about fire hazards and the steps that can be taken to prevent fires from starting or spreading. During the month of October, make the pledge to make an escape plan with your family to increase the chances of surviving a fire. Test all your smoke detectors and practice a fire drill. These are not things that we like to talk about, but we must plan for. #DryUNow #RestorationServices #WaterMitigation #MoldRemediation #FireRestoration #AsbestosAbatement #FirePreventionWeek

Fire prevention vs fire protection...what's the difference? The Home Office describes fire prevention as the FRSs statutory duty to undertake fire prevention activities. Prevention activities typically provide information to households to encourage fire safety behaviours. These include home fire safety visits, arson prevention, educational work with young people and other vulnerable groups, and any other fire prevention campaigns and initiatives. Fire protection is referred to FRSs statutory duty to promote and enforce fire safety to reduce risk to people in the build environment.
