With warm weather and blue skies ahead, it’s time to put the top down and head to the beach. 🏖 The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles has some tips on how to stay safe on the road, in and out of the Sunshine State. Whether you’re heading out to work or on a summer getaway, vehicle safety is just as important in the summer. Here are the 8 top tips for summer touring: 1. 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 by checking your tire pressure, tire tread, and rotating your tires. If your tread is worn down, get a new set. 🚗 2. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 as sun exposure damages headlight clarity, and can cause clouding. 🚨 3. 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗿 when it’s hot out. 🔥 4. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀, 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲! The air around your car isn’t crash-tested. 🤳 5. 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝘁, and make sure children are in the appropriate seat for their weight. 🐶 6. 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲. 🛑 7. 𝗕𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲 𝘂𝗽! Seatbelts save lives. ✔ 8. 𝗢𝗯𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀. With the sun out, and your playlist blasting, it’s easy to go too hard on the gas. 🚔 The best road trip has no bumps along the way, it's time to get out and enjoy the summer! #Florida #RoadSafety #Cardata

I don't know if you're noticed, but by the intense howling outside my window, it is WIMDY! Driving in high winds carries it's own unique set of challenges that every professional driver must overcome to remain safe. Here's a break down of best practice: 🌪️ Begin your shift with a thorough vehicle check - vehicle panels and equipment are more likely to come loose in high winds, so ensure everything is firmly secured 🌪️ Plan and check your route before you leave - debris or collisions may have closed roads or caused delays 🌪️ Use local knowledge to avoid particularly open areas/bridges where possible 🌪️ Stay centered - being positioned squarely in the middle of your lane gives you the maximum room to react to gusts 🌪️ Obsess over mirrors - You need to be able to react safely to the weather, and that means knowing exactly what's around you at all times 🌪️ Heavy is savvy - avoid travelling empty if at all possible, as unladen high-sided vehicles are more vulnerable to gusts. Finally, and most importantly, know when to call it off. If you think it's unsafe to make the journey, don't do it. Stay safe out there drive! #roadsafety #behgvsavvy #stormdarragh

🚗❄️ Stay Safe on the Road This Winter! ❄️🚗 Snowy roads and freezing temperatures are no joke! At United Road, we care about your safety whether you're operating your personal vehicle or a United Road carhauler. The National Safety Council shares some essential tips to winterize your vehicle and stay prepared for winter weather: ✅ Test your battery; cold temps drain power fast. ✅ Ensure your cooling system is in top shape. ✅ Switch to winter tires or check your all-season tire tread (replace if less than 2/32 of an inch). ✅ Check tire pressure—cold air causes it to drop. ✅ Inspect wiper blades and replace if worn. ✅ Use wiper fluid rated for -30°F to keep your windshield clear. ✅ Always keep your gas tank at least half full to avoid gas line freeze. Taking these steps ensures your vehicle is ready for whatever winter throws at you! 🚙❄️ Stay safe and keep those wheels rolling, whether you're driving a car or hauling a load with United Road. 🌨️ Photo Credit: Leonardo Machado, Professional Carhauler #WinterDriving #VehicleSafety #UnitedRoad #WinterTips

The penny test for tire tread: If your tire tread has worn down below 2/32nds of an inch, it’s time to replace your tires. You can test this with a penny: If Lincoln’s head disappears below the tread when placed head first into a rib, your tires are fine. If his head is visible, it’s time to replace.
