Does the model that has managed the industry for more than half a century interest anyone? Clearly not! Every year between 10 and 40% of production in the fashion industry ends up in landfill or incinerated. My thoughts on this: 👉 Brands: Long production cycles require high investments in stock and decapitalize brands. Brands tend to lose agility and become unable to properly fuel sales efforts, especially in less favorable economic cycles. It's not a question of if, it's when the stock will kill the brand. 👉 Consumers: increasingly aware of sustainability, they know that the solution does not just involve new materials (which at the end of the day will have the same fate). They already show greater engagement by brands with practices and production models capable of ensuring that only the necessary resources are consumed. 👉 Producers: In my opinion, those who hold the key to the problem. The focus on production costs has decimated production hubs around the world, closing factories, generating unemployment, or maintaining horrible working conditions. Competition over cost is therefore a short run. The model needs to be reinvented with bigger flexibility and integration between all. Regardless of economics, there is no Planet B. So, there's this company called EcoLine Clothing, founded by K. Sankar and Senthil Sankar. They're not your typical fashion brand. These guys are transforming 1.5 million PET bottles every day into sustainable clothing like T-shirts, jackets, and blazers. Can you imagine? They're turning trash into high-quality clothes! It takes about 8 bottles to make a T-shirt and 20 for a jacket. It's so inspiring to see a #startup from #TamilNadu making a global impact by blending fashion with environmental consciousness. Every piece they create helps reduce #plastic waste, and their commitment to a circular economy is truly commendable. This just goes to show that small steps can make a big difference when driven by purpose.
