Today marks the 3-year anniversary of the Sudden Hearing Loss Support website's launch. https://lnkd.in/genFhMJ When I experienced sudden hearing loss 7 years ago, I struggled to find comprehensive information in one place. While there were occasional articles scattered across various websites, there was nothing out there that highlighted the whole sudden hearing loss experience, including associated issues like tinnitus, noise sensitivity, and balance problems. Determined to bridge this gap, I founded the Sudden Hearing Loss Support website—a hub of information and encouragement for those affected by sudden hearing loss. Supported by hearing loss and tinnitus organizations, charities, audiologists, and hearing aid manufacturers and providers (Roulla Katiri Kate Collet-Fenson @Nicola Magrath ASTON HEARING SERVICES LIMITED Ceri Whittaker Siân Bostock Tinnitus UK @Hearing Link Services Meniere’s Society RNID to name a few), the website offers vital information and a supportive community. Beyond providing essential information, the website shares personal stories, engaging visuals for healthcare settings, and links to support services. 3 years later, the website continues to thrive. I regularly receive messages from individuals seeking information and connection with others who understand their journey. My hope is that this website remains a place of comfort and assistance for those navigating sudden hearing loss for years to come. Want to get involved? Here are 2 ways you can participate: 1. Write a blog post I am always on the lookout for content for the website blog, particularly: - Articles about sudden hearing loss, hyperacusis, balance disorders, tinnitus, the practical and emotional impact of sudden hearing loss, tips, and tricks for moving forward with sudden hearing loss - Inspirational real stories from people who have lived through the sudden hearing loss experience 2. Website Sponsorship If you would like to contribute to the running costs of the website, please get in touch: carlyannsygrove@gmail.com I can put a link on the “Sponsors” page through to your company or personal website in return. Join me in raising awareness of sudden hearing loss and providing invaluable information and support worldwide! #suddenhearingloss #hearinglosssupport #hearinghealth #awareness #supportcommunity

The Best Hearing Aid Is the One You Actually Wear 🦻🏻 A couple of weeks ago, we enjoyed joining Dr. Natalie Phillips, Dr. Hannah Galloway, and Whitney Hodges on the Audiology Center of Northern Colorado podcast to share the story behind Auzi and our mission to change how we see hearing loss. One statistic we discussed has stuck with us: "80% of people who need hearing aids don’t wear them." Why? Stigma, discomfort, and the feeling of being "different." among other factors. But hearing loss is nothing to be ashamed of. It’s a part of who we are, and we believe it should be celebrated—not hidden. Inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold to highlight rather than disguise imperfections, we created Auzi to give hearing aid wearers something to be proud of. Every hearing aid jewellery cover is a piece of art, custom-made to honour the wearer’s unique story. Just as kintsugi shows us that imperfections can be beautiful, we want hearing aids to feel like a badge of pride, not something to hide away. We founded Auzi because we know the best hearing aid is the one you actually wear. It’s time to rewrite the narrative—no more stigma, no more shame. Thank you to the team for having us and for a thoughtful and inspiring conversation. We're excited to announce our first wave of Auzi hearing clinic partners from across the globe very soon. If you'd like to be a part of this first batch, we'd love to connect. Together, we can reframe hearing health and celebrate every unique story. At HASA, we understand that hearing is a vital part of your overall health and development. Early detection of hearing issues is crucial for effective intervention and support, which is why newborn hearing screenings are so important. Why Prioritize Hearing Screenings? Early Detection: Identifying hearing issues within the first few months of life can significantly influence a child's language, social, and cognitive development. Timely Interventions: Early diagnosis allows for prompt treatment options, which can lead to better outcomes and easier adaptation for the child and family. Support Holistic Development: Addressing hearing health supports not just communication abilities but also the mental and emotional well-being of children as they grow. We encourage parents and healthcare providers to ensure that hearing screenings are a standard part of a child's medical care. Catching hearing issues early not only helps in treatment but also improves the overall prognosis and quality of life. For more insights on the interconnectedness of hearing health and holistic wellness, read our latest blog: The Importance of Holistic Health: Hearing Loss & Mental Health.
