The grandeur of the former Royal Arms Hotel in Gosport has been restored. 👏 Originally established in 1810, it became known as the ‘Submariners Pub’ in the 20th century as it was a regular haunt of submariners returning to Gosport after a tour of duty. As part of our High Street Heritage Action Zone in Gosport, Hampshire, we've restored the canopy and façade so that future generations can enjoy them. While the scene might resemble something you would expect to happen on land, the dynamics here are quite different: https://lnkd.in/dzZDmxit Without a capable police presence, the situation aboard cruise ships takes on a unique maritime dimension. Unlike land-based settings, seagoing ships lack judicially authorised officers to enforce law and order, leaving the rule of law in a precarious position. The effective management of incidents like this goes beyond the #judicial expertise typically expected of legally untrained #Masters or Chief Security Officers (#CSO). Sadly, this incident on #IconOfTheSea is not just an isolated situation. Many #criminal offenses at sea go unreported and unevaluated. We are calling on Royal Caribbean Group, CLIA | Cruise Lines International Association to take action: Jason Liberty, the cruise industry has a unique opportunity to elevate its standards, and it is crucial that they do so in alignment with the #RuleofLaw at sea.
