"In a post-Dobbs reality, protecting access to abortion is not a matter of choice: It’s essential to the health and well-being of our communities. Latinas are disproportionately impacted by restrictive abortion legislation, and as we approach the 2024 ballots, our coalition grows, transcending state lines. This is a proactive stance for our rights and freedoms." Since Dobbs, every state that voted on abortion has chosen to protect it. Colorado is the next state putting reproductive rights on the ballot with two competing campaigns. As a firm with expertise in ballot initiatives, we’re partnering with Coloradans Protecting Reproductive Freedom to enshrine abortion access in the Colorado Constitution. This would not only protect the millions of Coloradans who can get pregnant, it will offer sanctuary for many patients seeking care in the Great Plains and Mountain West. With a campaign to restrict reproductive rights coming from the other camp, we are thrilled to be adding strength to Cobalt Advocates’ strategy, voter engagement, and communications. Hey everyone - Monday marked the two-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision and we are seizing the moment by taking action against national attempts to dismantle abortion rights. Governor Healey announced a new executive order to provide even stronger protections for reproductive freedom here in the Commonwealth. Our order reaffirms that Massachusetts law provides a right to prompt treatment in an emergency – and that includes emergency abortion care. It reaffirms that state law protects providers and pharmacists from professional licensure consequences and/or out-of-state legal actions for providing reproductive health care or gender-affirming health care services in Massachusetts. It also protects patients from out-of-state legal actions when seeking those services. Now is the time to go on offense and focus on what we can do to bring an end to the dangerous game extremists are playing with people’s lives. We’ll continue to stand up for reproductive freedom in our state and across the nation. Remind everyone you know that the Dobbs decision is the direct result of Trump packing the courts with right-wing extremists. Abortion rights are a defining issue this year and we cannot give him another opportunity to further dismantle women’s rights. We’re not backing down. Neither are Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Thanks for standing with us, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll

In this Ms. Magazine article, longtime Our Bodies Ourselves contributor Carrie N. Baker, J.D., Ph.D. discusses abortion rights and the upcoming election. Americans widely support abortion rights nationwide. Almost two-thirds of Americans say abortion should be legal in all or most cases. However, current state laws don’t reflect that. Twenty-one state legislatures have abortion restrictions and four more are attempting to restrict abortions. This fall, voters could change the landscape of abortion rights. Reproductive rights activists are working for ballot measures that will protect abortion rights in eleven states: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, South Dakota, and Arkansas. If voters in those states support these measures, they would join seven states that have voted for abortion protections since the Dobbs v. Jackson case in June 2022. https://lnkd.in/eHKNi2uV #OBOSToday #OurBodiesOurselves #InTheNews #AbortionRights #AbortionIsHealthcare #AbortionBans #AbortionRestrictions #ReproductiveRights

After the repeal of Roe V Wade, legislation to roll back reproductive rights and access to abortion has appeared in states throughout the US. Most recently, Wyoming has introduced a very restrictive abortion ban, Texas is poised to ban the use of medicated abortions, and both Florida and Georgia have advanced a 6-week abortion ban. Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism funds activists in critical moments when their reproductive rights are threatened, challenged, or violated. Here are three things funders can do to protect reproductive rights: https://lnkd.in/edV_i8vf.

780 :72 - #France did it. On Monday, a joint session of Parliament voted to adopt a constitutional reform to protect the 'freedom of women to voluntarily terminate a pregnancy, which is guaranteed'. I, for one, am very proud of my homecountry. In a time where we observe a rollback of abortion rights in some countries, like the US Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, France is taking a clear stance on the issue of women's health. While abortion has been legal in France since 1975, access hasn't always been easy. This amendment strengthens existing rights and offers a clearer path for future advancements in abortion access, thus offering a higher level of protection for women. It also makes it much harder for future governments to restrict abortion rights through regular law changes. Becoming the first country in the world to take this step, France sends a strong message of support for women's bodily autonomy and reproductive rights. My thoughts go to one of my personal heroines, #SimoneVeil, former Health Minister, who championed the #1975law that decriminalized abortion. (the Veil Act (Loi Veil)), a law which significantly improved women's access to safe abortions. 49 (!) years later, France honors the legacy of Simone Veil (and many others) and her fight for women's reproductive rights. I acknowledge the inherent controversy surrounding the topic of abortion, a subject that elicits strong opinions from various perspectives. And of course, addressing abortion often focuses on alleviating the immediate symptom rather than delving into the root causes, such as the need for improved contraceptive education, combating violence against women, and addressing the issue of rape. For many women around the world, the suffering will continue - underscoring the ongoing need for global initiatives. Lots still remains to be done here. But for today, let's celebrate France - with the hope that many other countries will follow in her footsteps. #womenshealth #womensrights

The United States prides itself in being a nation of progress, opportunity, and most importantly— freedom. However, two years ago today, we saw a pivot from those standards as the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Since then, abortion rights have been heinously stripped away from women & pregnant people in many parts of the country. Republican controlled states are using this opportunity to push for control of bodies & spirits. We cannot, and will not, stand for this injustice. As a woman, I have seen first hand how my abortion rights are slipping away. Not only can having an abortion put me in prison in certain states, but funding for healthcare facilities that focus on reproductive justice are suffering. Abortions will never go away, so we must push for abortion to be legalized across the nation to keep our pregnant people safe. Institutions like Planned Parenthood & the Center for Reproductive Rights, along with many others, continue the fight to secure reproductive rights for all. Syracuse Cultural Workers has also taken a stand to advocate for the Pro-Choice/Reproductive Justice movement. Remember, Roe v. Wade wasn’t just about abortions, but the right to have full autonomy over our own bodies, pregnant or not. https://lnkd.in/gJribKC6 #Abortion #ReproductiveRights #mybodymychoice

'Stay out of all of our personal lives': Wisconsin Senate candidates spar during debate ——————— A Misguided Attack on Reproductive Rights A Rebuke of Opposition to Abortion Rights As I stand here today, I am compelled to address a statement made by my opponent, Eric Hy, who claims to be 100% opposed to abortion rights. This misguided stance is not only alarming, but it also underscores a critical need for clarification on the issue. I want to be clear: I am not in favor of a national abortion ban. In fact, I believe that women should have the right to make their own decisions about the...
