It requires us to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful conversations about the past. As we strive for a more inclusive future, let’s commit to the following: Listen Actively: Engage with stories and experiences of those who have been affected by historical injustices. Their narratives are vital for understanding the full picture. Educate Ourselves: Take the time to learn about Indigenous cultures, histories, and the ongoing impacts of colonization. Knowledge is a powerful catalyst for change. Support Indigenous Voices: Amplify and uplift Indigenous leaders, creators, and communities. Their insights and contributions are essential to our collective growth. Take Action: Whether through policy advocacy, community involvement, or personal accountability, let’s work towards tangible changes that promote equity and justice. As we honor those who have suffered, let’s also celebrate resilience and hope. Reconciliation is a collective responsibility, and each of us has a role to play. Today is a difficult day for justice and equality. President-Elect Trump and his extreme agenda are the embodiment of inequality. He fuels divisions between the ultra-wealthy and the rest of us, his policies sow chaos, his racist, sexist agenda seeks to divide and distract us, all while he threatens the future of American democracy, trashes the climate, and puts all of our safety at risk. But our future can still be equal, we just have to fight for it. That’s why today, we’re launching a rapid response advocacy team to mobilize Oxfam America’s resources to speak out and fight against injustice. At the Future of Democracy Forum, a diverse group of leaders reached a key point of consensus—social breakdown is a far bigger threat to our democracies than we’re acknowledging. We must meet this division with understanding and connection to reinvigorate democratic society, writes John Gable. ✔️ Each of the eight groups listed as a top concern, if not the top concern, the social breakdown of our democratic societies internally.  ✔️ Regular, average people want connection and a more stable society, and they are realizing that the way to get there is to get out of hate–inducing filter bubbles. ✔️ In democratic societies, people are the ultimate authority. Dialogue stands as an essential component in navigating complex global challenges, offering a platform where diverse voices converge, learn from each other, and boost collaboration for collective solutions. Today marks a significant moment as the International Labour Organization launches the #GlobalCoalitionforSocialJustice. Within this initiative, dialogue emerges as a crucial instrument, bringing together over 100 partners to address social justice deficits and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As we celebrate World Justice Day, let’s truly appreciate the transformative power of dialogue within this coalition. Clover nails it here. The political structures currently at play don't work. Most of the change will be done from the bottom up. We may not think we have much power as individuals but I have seen single people create a crack in the thin veneer of fine. This allows the opportunity for others to become aware, look up from their individual lives and see what actions they can take to help the change begin. Cheer on the voices like Clover who are calling out the crazy. Listen well to her messages and the voices of others trying to guide us from dysfunctional to asking more of our politicians, becoming more active politically, demanding more than just letting corporations walk in and buy out the politicians (ironically I think they might use some of the finances they gain from our tax money in subsidies). On this Election Day, I am struck by those around me who are living democracy – not just participating in it, especially the Move for America Fellows. They are not just participating in democracy; they live it every day through a full year of service thanks to our partners at AmeriCorps VISTA.
