Grow PNG team attended the Agri Talk Series #3, hosted by the PNGUoT Agriculture Students Association (ASA) at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology. Our Country Program Manager, Ruthy David, was invited as a guest speaker to share her insights and expertise. The event took place on Saturday, 20th July 2024, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Duncanson Hall (DH), The University of Technology Taraka Campus. The Agri Talk Series is a groundbreaking initiative by ASA, designed to inspire and equip students with the knowledge they need to excel in their agricultural careers. The theme for this year's series, “Empowering Agriculture for PNG’s Prosperity”. Ruthy spoke about the pivotal role Grow PNG plays in the Markham Valley, highlighting the current programs and the critical gaps identified at the farm level, particularly, “Transition from Traditional Gardening to Farming for Business.” She added that the knowledge gaps in understanding farming as a business are enormous in the rural agriculture communities. Ruthy challenged the agriculture student association of how their learnings attained from the studies can be applied back to their villages and communities as an act of empowering agriculture for PNG’s Prosperity. Her insights into creating an enabling environment for graduates to make a meaningful impact in their communities were particularly well-received. Our mission at Grow PNG aligns perfectly with ASA's vision to cultivate a dynamic, innovative, and entrepreneurial spirit among students by 2025. Together, we are committed to promoting professional excellence and sustainable development in PNG’s agricultural sector through research, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. A big thank you to the Agriculture Students Association for organizing this event. We look forward to more collaborations that will drive positive change and prosperity in PNG’s agriculture sector.  #Agriculture #AgriTalkSeries #EmpoweringAgriculture #PNGProsperity #SustainableDevelopment #MarkhamValley #AgricultureStudents #Innovation #Entrepreneurship
