These domains include, but are not limited to, space exploration, in-orbit servicing and maintenance, in-space assembly, multi-robot collaboration, teleoperation, extended reality, Space Resource Utilization (SRU) / In-situ Resource Utilization (ISRU). Space Robotics is an emerging research and innovation topic that is expected to be the disruptive technology for new Space ERA and the cornerstone for new multi-millionaire market opportunities in Space. 🌌 Biomimetic Robotics in Space Exploration 🚀 Biomimicry is an alternative approach to solve problems people may encounter in all walks of life by mimicking and being inspired by nature. Robotics and space research are of utmost importance for modern researchers. When it comes to robotics design for space environments, it is seen that the ones usually preferred for space research are mostly inspired by living beings on Earth. Bio-inspired robotic technology is being developed by studying the mechanics of living beings having been seen in our world for 3.8 billion years. The locomotion, balance, behaviour, and communication skills of terrestrial beings have thus been thoroughly studied by engineers and social scientists for decades. Undoubtedly, robotics has also made use of the systems already existing in nature like many other scientific fields and thus considered the studies in biomechanics noteworthy. Inspired by animals like geckos and octopuses, biomimetic robots are venturing into environments that are inaccessible to humans. These machines use nature-inspired designs to grip surfaces, swim efficiently, or navigate uneven terrains. Thrilled to announce a significant overhaul of my website : https://lnkd.in/gUAAX8tJ As I gradually approach the end of my PhD Candidature, my recent focus has been on robust proximity operations of autonomous agents under uncertainty and efficient implementation of computationally expensive algorithms on board for resource constraint systems. While the PhD journey has not exactly what I envisaged, I am glad that I got an opportunity to explore the complete workflow to advance proximity operations of free flyer robots : starting with low-cost holonomic motion emulation, relative visual-inertial and range-inertial localization, guidance algorithms for multi-agent proximity operations and finally efficient on-board implementation on resource constraint compute boards. #phd #aerospace #ropd #robotics #tamu
