Tawny Eagles are remarkable hunters, soaring high above the savannah and using their sharp vision to spot prey from over a mile away. With powerful talons, they capture their targets with precision and speed. As key predators, they primarily feed on small mammals, reptiles, and birds, maintaining the balance within their ecosystem. Sadly, Tawny Eagles are increasingly threatened by habitat loss and human activities, leading to a concerning decline in their population. Their conservation is crucial for preserving biodiversity and ensuring the health of our ecosystems. Protecting these majestic birds helps maintain ecological balance and supports the rich tapestry of life that sustains our planet. Let’s join forces to safeguard the future of Tawny Eagles and celebrate the vital role they play in nature. #Conservation #Biodiversity #WildlifeProtection #TawnyEagle #EcologicalBalance

🔔Today is #AngelSharkDay! Angelsharks are flat-bodied sharks which can grow up to 2.4m in length and are normally found submerged in sandy habitats in coastal waters. Once a very common species, it is now #CriticallyEndangered due to targeted fishing, bycatch and habitat loss. Angelsharks act as umbrella species. By conserving them and their crucial habitats, numerous other species that rely on the same environments can also benefit and thrive. A new CMS Single Species Action Plan for the Angelshark in the Mediterranean Sea was recently adopted at #CMSCOP14 and provides the tools for urgent conservation action. https://lnkd.in/dAJ6SzGz

🌴The tropical ecosystems of the Americas are home to some of the most extraordinary wildlife on the planet. These ecosystems harbor the greatest number of species in the world! 🌎🌱 The Amazon contains more fish species than the Nile, Congo and Mississippi combined! 🐠 💚 It is also home to the #jaguar, which is the third biggest cat in the world—after the tiger and the lion—and the largest cat in the Americas! 🐾 🌿On this #NationalWildlifeDay, we give thanks to the #Indigenouspeoples of the #amazonrainforest who protect a large percent of the region’s remaining #biodiversity. 💚 🌴 Indigenous peoples protect nearly 80% of the remaining terrestrial biodiversity on the planet. As the ecosystems that support the largest diversity of plant and animal species in the world are compromised by human-related activities, the ancestral lands of indigenous peoples are destroyed. 🌱 ▶️ Learn more about how we partner with indigenous and local communities to save the Amazon rainforest at amazonteam.org. #rainforest #indigenousrights #wildlife #amazonia #indigenousland #conservation #climatechange #sustainability #nature #biodiversity #wildlifeday #wildlifephotography #naturephotography #wildlifeconservation #wildlifephoto #wildlifeplanet #naturepics #endangeredspecies

Fewer than 800 individual of 🐟 European sturgeon remain in the wild, and the species is considered Endangered. Now found only in 🇫🇷 France’s Gironde-Garonne-Dordogne river basin, this majestic fish faces threats from bycatch, pollution, and habitat destruction. Captive breeding and restoration activities are vital for its survival. Restoration approaches have been successful restoration in the Gironde estuary (France) and the Elbe River (Germany), but recovery is a slow process that may take a minimum of 30-50 years. Share this post to raise awareness for European sturgeon 💙 and encourage conservation. #EuropeanSturgeon #EndangeredSpecies #SaveOurSturgeon #MarineConservation #ProtectWildlife #OceanProtection #SustainableFishing #HabitatRestoration #ClimateAction #Biodiversity #WildlifeConservation #TheMarineDiaries

#GlobalTigerDay, also known as #InternationalTigerDay, is observed annually on July 29 to raise awareness about tiger conservation. Founded in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit, this day emphasizes the plight of tigers, the need for their preservation, and the crucial role they play in maintaining the balance of ecosystems. Tigers, as apex predators, are vital for the health and diversity of the ecosystems they inhabit. They help control the population of prey species, thereby maintaining the balance between herbivores and the vegetation they feed on. This balance ensures the health of the forest, which in turn supports numerous other species, including humans. Despite their ecological importance, tigers face numerous threats like habitat loss, poaching, Human-Wildlife Conflict and Climate Change. Global Tiger Day serves as a reminder of the critical need to protect tigers and their habitats. By working together we can ensure that these magnificent creatures continue to thrive in the wild for generations to come. The survival of tigers is not just about preserving a species; it's about maintaining the health of the planet and the delicate balance of life that supports us all. #globaltigerday2024 #SaveTigers #TigerConservation #ProtectTigers #WildlifeConservation #Tiger #EndangeredSpecies #SaveWildlife #RoarForTigers #StopPoaching #HabitatProtection #TigerAwareness #TigerProtection #PreserveNature

🌊An innovative project is underway in Wairewa/Lake Forsyth, Canterbury aimed at improving fish passage and helping species like tuna (longfin eel) and inanga navigate this critical waterway. A new system to monitor water levels and open the lake to the sea, when necessary, gives hope to these migratory species. This effort helps restore their access to spawning habitats, which are vital for their survival. This article highlights how changes can significantly impact water quality and the importance of innovation in conservation to protect our native species and local ecosystems. 🐟🌱 https://lnkd.in/gqRWkyJR You too can help revive our waterways and improve habitats for our most endangered fish species by getting our Awhi Awa | Embrace a Stream kete today🐟💙 https://lnkd.in/gkeqWWxp #EndangeredSpeciesNZ #ProtectOurWaterways #DrainsAreStreams #FishPassage #InnovativeConservation #WaterQuality

The Dodo, a flightless bird endemic to the island of Mauritius, is a tragic example of human-induced extinction. Once abundant, the Dodo was hunted to extinction within a century of its discovery due to deforestation, hunting, and the introduction of invasive species. Its disappearance serves as a stark reminder of the fragile balance of ecosystems and the devastating consequences of human actions. Let's work together to prevent the extinction of other species. By understanding the threats they face and taking action to protect their habitats, we can help ensure a future where biodiversity thrives. #BiodiversityLoss #EndangeredSpecies #Conservation

The destruction of natural habitats has caused a significant increase in wildlife encroaching upon human environments. As natural ecosystems are disturbed by human activities, animals are forced to leave their homes in search of food, shelter, and breeding grounds. This displacement often brings them into closer contact with human populations, leading to a rise in encounters and conflicts. The loss of biodiversity and the fragmentation of ecosystems disrupt the natural behaviors and migration patterns of wildlife, compelling them to adapt to new, often hostile, environments dominated by human activity. Therefore, we underscore the urgent need for restoration of natural ecosystems, so as to prevent the damage that could be caused by wildlife to human life and the infrastructures-in search for the better breeding grounds and shelter.
