TRANTOR: the evolution from 5G to 6G satellite will be featured in MWC24 The TRANTOR Project will once again be at the Mobile World Congress, February 26-29 in Barcelona. The project carried out by a consortium of ten companies and reference research centers in Spain and Europe: Hispasat, Inster-Grupo Oesía, Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC), Fraunhofer IIS, Indra, RHEA Group, Software Radio Systems (SRS), Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), the Université du Luxembourg and Quadsat, consists of the development of technology that enables global Internet access through satellite or non terrestrial networks (NTN) 5G and 6G. Visitors to MWC24 will be able to learn more about the TRANTOR project at the stands of CTTC (CS220), Hispasat (6E13) and Fraunhofer Institute. With funding from Horizon Europe, the European Union's (EU) framework program for research and innovation (R&I), TRANTOR's ultimate goal is to help reduce the European Union's dependence on third countries for telecommunications, as well as assist operators in providng a better connectivity to communities worldwide. #5G #6G #Satellite #MWC24 #MobileWorldCongress2024 #Connectivity #MultiOrbit #5GNetwork https://lnkd.in/ek3MRMUu

Alongside such great partners, we reached another significant milestone in the DISCRETION project: Test Readiness Review 🏅 The event was hosted by the Quantum Communications Group (Instituto de Telecomunicações - Aveiro). Luis Maia, represented Adyta at the event. Among the attendees were the Head of the Center for Communications, Information, Cyberspace and Space from the Estado-Maior-General das Forças Armadas and a Gabinete Nacional de Segurança representative. The European Commission also followed the project’s progress online. During the event, two use cases were demonstrated. One was about Software-Defined Radios (SDR) setup and mission phases, using keys generated and distributed through CV-QKD. Another was about a video conference secured with encryption using keys generated and distributed by CV-QKD. The entire system was managed by a resilient Software-Defined Network (SDN). We are now one step closer to building the secure network of the future for European Defence! On Day 2 of the India Space Congress 2024, the Panel session on "Setting the stage for World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly", deliberated upon the growing landscape of 6G technology and the importance of collaboration between stakeholders in academia, industry, and government for the development of this technology. The desired goal of standardization is ubiquitous connectivity. The WTSA ‘24 conference will review the resolutions and accommodations for the standards and similar exercises will be held in subsequent conferences this year with industry participation. Fixed mobile satellite convergence is a major topic of interest for the WTSA. Satcom is expected to be a $14 Bn industry in India with huge export potential. The industry has to step up manufacturing to cater to this need. The panel agreed that setting industry standards will help this growth." I had the opportunity to attend the ETSI NTN-6G Conference on 3rd of April at ETSI premises in Sophia Antipolis, next to our TERNWAVES R&D office. This ETSI conference organized in partnership with European Space Agency - ESA, Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) and 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association focused on 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥-𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 (NTN). It brought together over 200 standardization, research and industry experts from the mobile, satellite, and wider-space industries. 💡 Lots of valuable insights from many different parts of the industry. 📌 Here are 2 key take-aways which have been repeated by many speakers: 1. It is crucial for future NTN connectivity to 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐆𝐍𝐒𝐒 – called "GNSS Free Operation" or "GNSS Denied Operation". Public Safety players have been very vocal on this topic stating that 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐆𝐍𝐒𝐒 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. The below map presenting recent GPS jamming speaks for itself. 2. Future NTN connectivity needs an 𝐚𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 to unlock NTN capacity in order to be able to 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 - essential for real scalability.
