Turkish President Erdoğan, via his ally Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has recently made surprising advances towards the Turkish Kurds. Bahçeli even went so far as suggesting parole for Abdullah Öcalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). At the same time, Erdoğan cracked down on Kurdish politicians. This seemingly contradictory strategy serves to maintain the government’s nationalist credentials and manage its alliance with the ultranationalist MHP, a key partner in President Erdoğan’s ruling coalition. If a regime that executes a citizen every 6 hours and shoots at its people with war-grade ammunition can have any legitimacy. All the figures from the presidential elections of the Islamic Republic are multiples of 3, a crude method to triple the number of voters without altering the proportions, which has a very low probability of occurring naturally. 📍This would mean that in reality, only 12% of the people participated in these elections, not counting the null votes. 📍This is the third election in four years where the voter turnout does not exceed 15%, despite the promises, the distribution of cash, and ballot stuffing. It’s no coincidence that South Korea’s President Yoon survived an impeachment vote, Assad is on the run, Putin is escalating aggression, and Netanyahu is making increasingly controversial moves to cling to power. These events seem intertwined, reflecting ripple effects from January 6th and the most recent U.S. elections. The world watches what the United States does—or fails to do. And while I proudly stand with the 92% who reject authoritarianism, it’s clear that the so-called "strong men" of global politics are demonstrating profoundly weak leadership. On the world stage, their actions resemble a collective midlife crisis rather than effective governance. 😵💫 How this will shape the global political landscape remains to be seen. However, Assad’s disappearance raises critical questions: where is he, and who is protecting him? There’s a poetic irony in how dictators—who project strength and control—often flee or self-destruct when faced with real opposition. History shows that the fall of authoritarian figures can spark significant change. The question now is whether the global stage is ready for a shift toward accountability and progress.

Rudaw Media Network reports Kurdistan Regional Government has no legitimacy, according to UNITAD Iraq Thomas Seiler. I would like to add, WikiLeaks U.S. Department of State cables show that for 2 decades, the KRG has been unable to hold elections and parliament sessions regularly, without problems. Eg. In one recent Parliament session, weapons were pulled, fists exchanged, someone was screaming for a hookah (I have the video in my collection) . I've also witnessed former United Nations Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, exhaust warnings and ultimatums to the KRG, to no avail. Therefore, I regretfully support #Iraq Parliament members, Alia Nusaif Jassim and Srwa Abdulwahid requests, to dissolve the KRG permanently, without prejudice, and integrate into the Iraqi government. Prime Minister's Office, Republic of Iraq I have little hope things will improve. Elections and Parliament sessions are "fundamentals" to a functioning government. If you can't hold them regularly and properly, there is "simply no government," in my opinion. To ignore this dictum, would be to invite instability and quagmire, which could only be bandaged by the "appearance of normalcy," purchased with continuous American tax dollars. I hope for a decision 🙏🇮🇶 “Voting is the foundational act that breathes life into the principle of the consent of the governed.” DeForest Soaries Kamala Harris for Senate Youth for Joe Biden Donald J. 🛎 The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the chief political leader of Hamas, in Tehran has significant implications for Iran, Israel, and the broader Middle East. Israel's intelligence capabilities are evident in its ability to plan and execute the attack with precise knowledge of Haniyeh's whereabouts. While this incident will undoubtedly escalate tensions, a direct war between Iran and Israel is still unlikely. However, Iran is expected to retaliate through its proxy, Hezbollah, in the near future. 📣 Israel might be attempting to draw Iran into a broader conflict, which could lead to full U.S. support for Israel if Iran responds militarily. This situation benefits Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, as it could deflect domestic criticism. The timing is unfortunate for Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran's new president, as it places his administration in a challenging position from the start. Additionally, Israel is closely monitoring the upcoming U.S. elections, as their outcome could influence Israel's approach to the Gaza conflict. 🔴 The situation remains highly volatile, with the potential for widespread conflict if any miscalculations occur.

Current Affairs I. In male-dominated #Iranian politics, a woman has emerged as a kingmaker. Madam Azar Mansouri is among the most prominent leaders in Iran's reformist movement which backed HE Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, the President-elect. Arash Azizi writes "Ms Mansouri’s influence in Iranian politics can be best illustrated by a phone call she received from interim President HE Mohammad Mokhber, who sought to assuage her concerns about any electoral irregularities. It is this level of influence that could well secure her a position in Dr Pezeshkian’s cabinet – perhaps even as a vice president." Do Read: https://lnkd.in/e-tbh39H II. Elections in the West are a sign to the #MiddleEast to resolve issues internally - by Omar Al-Ubaydli “With the US's role diminishing in the region, particularly after its invasion of Iraq and its handling of the Gaza war, fewer people in the Middle East are expecting Washington or its European counterparts to help resolve the conflicts in Gaza, Libya, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, and elsewhere. Another message emerging from the think-tank circuit is that it is now incumbent upon the Middle Eastern countries to show more initiative in resolving their internal conflicts.” The quadrillion question is can they, will they? An "overdue, different approach" is an understatement, the situation requires the revol//utionary over//throw of the status quo US-Is//rael relations. Anything short of re-writing every document and memorandum of understanding is completely unconscionable after these 5-months of massacres and of 76 years of violent occupation and apartheid. Arms transfers and military aid need to end stat. The co-opting of American taxpayer dollars that create a cozy life for Israelis but leave millions of Americans under-protected must end. American support for the occupation of Palestine must end immediately. American political patronage rules need to be entirely re-written because the status quo is bribery to buy politician blind-eye turning to constant war crimes. In sum. ______________ "While so many have struggled to hold the humanity of both Israelis and Palestinians in their hearts, some are showing true, courageous leadership – precisely what this perilous hour demands. In an unprecedented speech on the Senate floor last week, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer opened his remarks saying he spoke for the "silent majority" of Jewish Americans "whose nuanced views … have never been well represented in this country's discussions about the war in Gaza." In a bold but important call, he went on to urge Israelis to hold new elections, noting Netanyahu "has put himself in coalition with far-right extremists...and as a result, he has been too willing to tolerate the civilian toll in Gaza, which is pushing support for Israel worldwide to historic lows." ...The memorandum stipulates countries receiving U.S. military aid must comply with U.S. and international law and align with our country's interests and values. In so doing, the memorandum requires Israel to conduct the war in a way that prioritizes the safety of civilians both in its military operations and its facilitation of humanitarian aid delivery. What is clear to us, as Jewish leaders who care deeply for the safety of Israelis and the country's future, is that the Democratic lawmakers mentioned have a deep, nuanced understanding of what it means to be pro-Israel. Faced with an increasingly recalcitrant Netanyahu government, it is not enough to spout platitudes or support symbolic resolutions. The U.S.-Israel relationship deserves and is strengthened by a more substantive approach. These senators realize that to be pro-Israel also means being pro-Palestinian. As October 7 and its aftermath have made clear yet again, the fates of these two peoples–who share a land and a history, and neither of whom is leaving–are inextricably linked. We in the pro-Israel community would be wise to understand...that providing Palestinians with stability, security and self-determination while promoting reforms in governance and education will also serve to benefit Israel's security in the future. Compounding an already-dire humanitarian calamity in Gaza, on Israel's doorstep, is in nobody's interests."

Lucy Hall Good for Schumer. I know the sensitivities of this, but Netanyahu is out of control. Tom Buffo Thank goodness some political leaders recognize Israeli leadership needs to change. They are clearly no better than Hamas given their continued vengeful over-the-top offensive (not defensive) response to the Hamas atrocities on 10/7 which has resulted in the destruction and genocide in Gaza. “In a sign of growing U.S. pressure on Israel over the war in Gaza, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “has lost his way” and called for Israeli elections aimed at choosing a new government. Netanyahu is “allowing his political survival to take precedence over the best interests of Israel,” Schumer said in a speech on the Senate floor Thursday. He said Israel “cannot hope to succeed as a pariah opposed by the rest of the world.” His speech is the latest in a series of high-level warnings and White House moves aimed at pressuring Israel and Netanyahu’s government to permit more humanitarian aid into Gaza and to rethink its war plans for Hamas, the U.S.-designated terror group whose bloody Oct. 7 attack on Israel sparked the war.” Schumer’s call for a new election comes amid growing frustration in the Biden administration with Netanyahu over the civilian death toll and his resistance to U.S. postwar plans, including a new push for the creation of an independent Palestinian state. Schumer said the U.S. wasn’t trying to dictate who should lead Israel. But, he said: “At this critical juncture, I believe a new election is the only way to allow for a healthy and open decision-making process about the future of Israel, at a time when so many Israelis have lost their confidence in the vision and direction of their government.”” #Israel #Palestinians #accountability #endtheviolence #endtheinsanity #genocide #Nabka #warcrimes #thereisabetterway #humanity #peace
