Humans have created, invented, innovated so many objects in the world we see around us. We may even believe we’re the most brilliant of species on the planet Earth. Harnessing and channeling the power of nature to build infrastructure like facilities and satellites in space. On land capabilities, facilities, networks, and systems like Energy (renewable and sustainable), Military and Defense, Industry, Health-care, Sanitary, Information and Communication, Mining, Transportation like railways, shipping, hangars, and Educational; Futuristic cities, Manufacturing/ production plants and factories, Pharmaceuticals, Technological parks, Crypto-mining facilities, Media and Entertainment, buildings, homes, bridges, roads, vehicles, furniture, appliances, gadgets, plastic, etc. We’ve even created a whole range of virtual inventions and infrastructure like the Metaverse, Blockchain and Virtual currencies to name a few. Not to forget Garbage collection, treatment, and disposal mechanisms. Remarkable achievements that may be considered a testament to humanity’s sheer ingenuity. However, let’s try to look at it from a different perspective. RUDEO, a project supported by the European Space Agency - ESA Φ-lab and organised by GMV, invited its participants to develop innovative solutions in climate action and resilience, sustainable supply chains and risk management, and risk assessment and insurance, by integrating Blockchain into Earth Observation (EO). EO technologies are essential for applications ranging from environmental monitoring and biodiversity conservation to resource management and risk assessment. My work at COP16 with Value.Space this week is captured in that one ☝️ tagline. Imagine if your BioDiversity credits were wiped out owing to a TSF failure 45 KM upstream. Over 5,000 assets under surveillance The application of historic data (2014 to 2024) sets from Sentinel gives retrospective audit AND ongoing surveillance of assets.
