Depending on where you plan to use your model, there are a range of different features that can be added. If you plan to take your model to exhibitions or events, you might find adding lighting, sound, or moving parts creates an immersive experience for the viewers. For models that will be housed on board a yacht or pride of place in a boardroom some well-placed external lighting that gently draws the eye of the visitor or guest, could be the perfect finishing touch. From moving parts and opening doors to sound systems, scent diffusers, and light sequencing, there's not much the team at SMW hasn’t had experience in creating. Test our abilities with your wildest ideas, we can make them into a reality. https://lnkd.in/dKi8RCVX #scale #model #scalemodel #scalemodels #scaleart #scalebuild #modelmaker #modelmakers #modelmaking #bespoke #specifications #lighting #movement #sound #3dprinting #handcrafted #cncmilling #craftsmanship #yacht #superyacht #luxurylifesytle #luxury #yachtlife #scalemodelsweston

I’ve coined a phrase called “tourniquet runway length”. ChatGPT thinks it’s new anyways. I doubt it’ll get published or find its way to textbooks. But it conveys what I consider to be an important point related to many of today’s favorite tourniquets. Basically, it is the distance a tourniquet mechanism can travel before it starts to fight itself. If a tourniquet doesn’t achieve arterial occlusion within that distance, then it only stops venous return… causes harm… and crashes in the trees beyond the runway. Ratchet tourniquet runways are easy to measure. It’s just the distance from full extension to full constriction. The MAT was a beautifully engineered ratcheting design, but it only had about 5 inches of runway. Jen Petit’s screw tourniquet from many years ago had a runway defined by the length of the screw. Windlass tourniquet runways are more variable and a bit harder to visualize and quantify. But they have the same issue. Take your favorite windlass tourniquet and lay it flat on a table. Turn the windlass until you can’t any more. The distance the free end moves is the runway length. However, that number can be less depending on the design when the free end is cinched. Runway length applies to some pneumatic tourniquets as well, because air bladders contained within inelastic sheaths have a point of maximum inflation. Most important for tourniquets with short runways, if you don’t pull the first cinch tight enough, you may run out of runway. That’s the reason for the SAM-XT. Some tourniquets with measurable runway lengths include the CAT, SOF-TW, SAM-XT, RMT, Fora and RapidStop. Runway length is a non topic, however, when: A. You start with direct pressure first and there is no added mechanism delivering mechanical advantage. This applies to wide elastics like the SWAT-T, Esmark and my wraps. or B. Your mechanical advantage mechanism has no hard end point, such as a rope+stick (though it’s horrible care). My goal now is to build a tourniquet/wrap windlass hybrid with a very long runway. The video attached shows my point about runways and where I’m headed. https://lnkd.in/gyZ2ncAs

Runway GEN-3 looks insane. But we can’t access it yet… Allegedly it’s coming in “a few days” I guess we’ll just have to wait. Soooo…this is an appreciation post For how crazy GEN-2 was (is). Runway’s “control features” Like motion brush/director mode/etc Make it user-friendly. And teaming it with Midjourney Is a solid combo. I would suggest getting to know Runway Before GEN-3 is released. Tools Used: + Midjourney: Images + Magnific: Upscaling + Runway: Animation + Music: Suno Process: 01. Create Midjourney Images. 02. Go to Runway. 03. Select Runway Gen2 “start with an image.” 04. Upload a Midjourney Image. 05. Adjust Motion. Jaguar in recent days is definitely discussed broadly. Since Reffine collaborates with them, and I personally have a connection, I'm admittedly biased. That said, here’s my take: 1. Our world thrives on clicks, reach, and most importantly: CONTROVERSY. Platforms like Google, Meta, and LinkedIn have shaped this reality... with our consent. TRUMP's recent actions have shown just how effective this model can be. 2. Jaguar seems to have played this concept brilliantly. The reach is undeniable - ✔️ even the king of self-promotion, Elon Musk, responded. 3. While the old lineup for ex. F-Pace was a strong product, it perhaps didn’t receive the market appreciation it deserved to push that concept forward. With this new model, they are exploring a more niche but profitable direction. 4. Personally, I’m not the target for a high-end EV GT car, nor am I someone driven by fashion or art. That said, this product isn’t trying to appeal to everyone... it’s designed for a specific audience with distinct tastes and preferences. 5. This new model is likely to remain a niche product compared to JLR’s other brands, which makes sense strategically. Ultimately, the product itself 🚗 and the sales numbers will reveal if this gamble pays off. One thing I admire is JLR’s boldness. Taking risks like this is commendable. While the product won’t appeal to everyone - it does retain a classic GT profile with its long hood and elegant silhouette. What’s your take on it?

💡 I thought I'd jump on the JLR conversation, given the outrage I've read about Jaguar's rebrand this week. I admit, my initial thought was that they've lost the plot. Completely. The end was in sight. But then I read about their declining sales figures and understood that they had to do something bold - or the end really was in sight. Their audience was decreasing along with their sales, so what do you do? You find a new audience. Not easy by any stretch of the imagination; repositioning a brand and its perception is really difficult and takes time, and investment. Not only do you have to find a new audience, but then you have to understand them. Every little thing about them and what makes them tick. Then you create the product that meets their needs. Jaguar's existing demographic is the generation above me, and the new one looks to be the generation below me, and I don't identify with their advertising so far, but that's okay. You can't please everyone all the time. They need people to reappraise the brand and the product, and so must create awareness that they're changing. From a marketing-perspective I would say they're well on the road (pun intended) to creating that awareness, given the amount of social chatter this week - kudos to the media team. I may not be their target audience, but I'll be watching with interest on 2nd December 🐆

I've spent the past 48 hours exploring Runway's Gen-3 Alpha and have already created over 250 clips! Here are some of my favorites so far. Pros: - When it's good, it's very good - Exceptional performance with large-scale, outdoor scenes (you really feel it understands the 3D space) - Impressive results with text, especially for logo reveals - Good with visual styles and colours, like black and white, vintage, etc. - Excellent for close-up shots of faces - Currently one of the top text-to-video models available - The option for an unlimited plan (although restricts you to 3–5 parallel generations) Cons: - Many issues with morphing and strange movements, particularly with human and animal figures - People walking looks fine at a glance but then you notice they're gliding across the floor - Cost can add up if not on the unlimited plan (at $0.10 per second of video generated) - Only about 10% of generations are flawless, with 25% of clips being unusable and 50% requiring edits for usability - Challenges in getting the model to adhere strictly to the given text prompt Drop a prompt in the comments, and I'll generate a clip for you! 🎬
