Bid Deadline Extended for Kuwait's Ambitious IWPP Az-Zour North Independent Water & Power Plant (IWPP) – Phase 2 and 3 is set to play a crucial role in Kuwait’s energy and water supply strategy. Once completed, the Az-Zour North complex will have a total capacity of 4,800 MW of power generation and 280 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) of desalinated water. 🔧 Phases 2 and 3 will connect to existing infrastructure, including the common water and fuel headers from Phase 1, and will feature the construction of a 400kV substation extension. MUSCAT: Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has announced the signing of an agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) to import electrical energy from the Gulf Electricity Market – a move that will ensure power exports from the Oman network as well. The agreement aims to streamline the importation of electrical energy from the Gulf market to Kuwait, ensuring the provision of required quantities at competitive rates, as per the Gulf market prices. This initiative will see Kuwait being supplied with the contracted electrical energy via the Gulf electrical interconnection network, utilizing the Gulf electrical energy trade platform managed by the GCCIA. Minister Fadhil explained that citizens will have the option to purchase #solarsystems from licensed vendors, either through direct payment or with the help of an interest-free loan provided by the Central Bank of Iraq. 9 developers prequalified for Bahrain’s Sitra IWPP Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has prequalified nine developers from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, China, South Korea and Japan for the Sitra Independent Water and Power Plant (IWPP).
