Four new gypsum mining sites offered up for auction in Dhofar MUSCAT: In a significant move to promote local industry and maximize the value of domestic resources, the Ministry of Energy and Minerals has unveiled plans for a public auction of gypsum mining sites in Dhofar Governorate. This initiative, which targets local Omani companies with expertise in the mining sector, underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the local value chain and fostering sustainable development within the Sultanate of Oman. The auction focuses on four gypsum mining sites situated in the Thamrait area, identified collectively under the site code GS-0000004. These sites, which span a substantial area of approximately 27 square kilometers, are strategically positioned within a region rich in natural resources. Saudi Arabia's mining sector witnessed a significant upturn, with exploitation licenses increasing by 138% from 8 in 2021 to 19 in last year, post the new Mining Investment Law's enactment. This surge reflects the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources' drive to enhance mineral production and investment, aligning with the Kingdom's strategy to make mining a key economic pillar. @Anglo Asian Mining PLC (AIM:AAZ, OTC:AGXKF) hailed the current quarter just ended as a turning point for the miner with permission to restart operations and raise its tailings dam wall at the Gedabek mine in Azerbaijan. A first lift in the wall by 2.5 metres will be completed in November 2024 while production restarted from its agitation leaching plant last month. Third quarter production totalled 3,040 gold equivalent ounces (GEOs) against 5,295oz a year ago, mostly gold. For the nine months of the year so far, production has totalled 8,310 GEOs against 28,686 GEOs in 2023. In the third quarter, gold bullion sales amounted to 3,220oz at an average price of $2,497oz with net debt at the end of the period of US$14 million. Full year 2024 production guidance was maintained at 15,000 to 19,500 GEOs with  Anglo adding it remains on schedule to restart its flotation processing in November with the first production from... Hardcastle MENA Spotlight: On November 26, the Saudi Ministry of Investment and Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources signed an MoU with Vedanta Copper International, a subsidiary of the Indian multinational mining company Vedanta Ltd. This agreement will allow the parties to collaborate on copper projects in Saudi Arabia worth $2 billion.
