I am excited to announce that I am starting a series of posts to share my experiences in helping people understand Supply Chain Analytics across Asia and Europe. Through this series, I aim to provide actionable content which can help other interested professionals follow the same path! As an example, during my four-year stay at Daraz, Alibaba Group, I have hired multiple business and data analysts. During the hiring process, I don't look at degrees or certificates but rather: - Working knowledge and experience of 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥, not certificates - Query building in 𝐒𝐐𝐋  - How would they make data actionable (𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧) - How easily they can translate 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 1 good case study discussion usually clears everything for me, since AI can help everyone write queries but AI cannot think for us!

When you want to order a top pizza, you go to a pizza parlour, they are specialists 🍕 When you want to order a top steak, you go to a steak house, they are specialists 🥩 When you want to order a top Nasi Goreng, you go to an Indonesian Restaurant, they are specialists 🍲 Same with recruitment, when you want to find a top Data Engineer, you go to the specialists, not the generalists... You can't be a "specialist" recruiter for Data Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, Business Intelligence & AI, if one day you are looking for a Data Analyst, the next a Data Scientist, the next a Data Engineer, the next a Machine Learning Engineer... A week ago, I started Data Engineering Cebu, a tech community in Cebu, Philippines, for data professionals and enthusiasts, including data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and more. Last Saturday, we held our first meetup, where I had the opportunity to meet fellow data engineers, data analysts, and SQL developers. There is simply too much friction reading a resume right now, so the best way for you to land interviews is by direct message on LinkedIn BUT LET ME BE CRYSTAL CLEAR. You still have to mass apply, because when companies ask you if you have applied yet in the portal and you say no then you have to start from scratch. It’s a lot of work I know and it sucks, but you got to do it. In 2025 mark my words at the rate AI is moving you will all by interviewing with holograms. I am not joking at all. There will be AI recruiting software that will sort, sift, screen (oh yes interview you), and schedule the second round interview. This is why I am telling everybody to land this job as soon as possible and to start a brand (more on that later), but for now you need to deliver a more impactful message to pitch your resume.
