Honoring Traditions with Respect and Inclusion - I’ve been reflecting on a conversation that many DEI professionals are currently having: the increasing shift from Halloween to Día de los Muertos in workplace celebrations. While it’s exciting to see a growing interest in celebrating traditions that are deeply rooted in Mexican and Latin culture, it’s equally important that we approach these cultural celebrations with sensitivity and respect, avoiding unintentional appropriation. Día de los Muertos is about honoring ancestors, and this practice can be sacred across many cultures. Recently, I learned something profound about my own ancestors—my great-grandfather, who was enslaved in North Carolina, fought for freedom in the Union Army during the Civil War. It’s a legacy that fills me with pride. Yet, history reveals a more complex narrative: some of those Black troops were later sent west to fight against Mexican and Latino communities as the U.S. expanded. This personal discovery made me question how we honor our ancestors in shared spaces like Día de los Muertos. It raises a critical question: How do we respect cultural practices when our histories intersect in ways that aren’t always easy to reconcile? As we think about bringing Día de los Muertos into our workplaces, I encourage us to ask: Are we honoring the tradition respectfully, or are we unintentionally disconnecting it from its meaning? How can we ensure inclusivity without diminishing the cultural significance of these traditions? Maybe the best way forward is by seeking guidance from those with direct connections to the culture, asking, “Can I participate and learn with you?” Let’s use these moments of reflection to ensure our celebrations are mindful and meaningful, fostering a workplace culture that honors diversity in its fullest sense. What are your thoughts on how we can create culturally sensitive and inclusive spaces at work? #CulturalSensitivity #DEI #InclusionMatters #WorkplaceCulture #CulturalAwareness #RespectfulCelebration #DiversityAndInclusion #CulturalTraditions #DiaDeLosMuertos #InclusiveWorkplace #HonoringAncestors

Happy Monday, Yall! Gratitude is a powerful thing—it’s not just about saying thank you but about showing it through our actions. As John F. Kennedy once said, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” Here in Acadiana, living our gratitude is second nature. From the way we rally around one another in times of need to how we celebrate the unique culture that makes this area home, it’s clear that appreciation is deeply rooted in our community. Think about the moments that make life in Acadiana so special. Maybe it’s enjoying a warm glazed at Meche’s, or a neighbor lending a hand during one of our many community events. Gratitude can also mean supporting local vendors at the Farmers market at Moncus Park, or savoring the traditions we hold dear during festivals like dancing in the dust at Festival Acadiens. Imagine what we could achieve if we turned gratitude into action every day. By recognizing the people and places that make our lives brighter, we create a ripple effect of kindness and positivity throughout Acadiana. This week, let’s celebrate those connections. Take a moment to thank someone who inspires you, support a local gem, or share what makes our community so special to you. 💬 Drop a comment below: Who or what in Acadiana are you most grateful for this week? Let’s inspire one another to live our gratitude fully. #MondayMotivation #RaginRealtor #DistrictSouthRE #RealBroker #AcadianaStrong #BuildingConnections #CommunitySpirit
