Did you know that Canada celebrates Small Business Week in October? The Bay of Quinte (BOQ) communities come together to plan a full week of events each year. This is an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs and folks supporting entrepreneurs to gather, network, and learn from each other. While my business has become too busy for me to attend as many events as I used to when I started out more than a decade ago, I still set aside time to attend events during Small Business Week. As a minimum I plan to attend the Social Mix & Mingle in Brighton, the Enhancing HR Effectiveness: A Collaborative Approach to Key Challenges, and Uplifting Women, Empowering Each Other sessions in Quinte West. Kearlene Crosby and I couldn't resist but take a picture in front of the branded banner of my past enterprise :) This is a practice that all our employees during any outreach would have done at any of our outreach events! It showcases the pride and joy that we fostered along the way, regardless of the professional circumstances that faced us. At the Annual Post Budget Meeting hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Unicomer (Trinidad) Ltd flagship brand Courts was displayed prominently as a Bronze Sponsor. A collaboration that I have maintained during the four-and-a-half years of my tenure. The collaboration allows businesses to work with the Chambers on signature events, giving these entities access to major events throughout the year. Since 1879, the Chamber has been bringing businesses together in T&T to forge relationships and strengthen the private and public sectors towards the interest of the national population. I was quite proud to see the continuance of the relationship and hopeful that the same would continue, as it has brought the company valuable insights on navigating the social, economic, and environmental terrain of our country. I would always encourage any business to get involved, these sessions provide great insights, approaches and thoughts on some of the country's biggest challenges.
