Day 4 of the ECO30 Sustainable living challenge is buying local produce and it's benefits. This is such an important challenge and this my pepper which I bought it in the market. Purchasing local produce can have a huge impact on the environment and the local economy. By supporting local farms, you're helping to: ~reduce the amount of energy and resources needed to transport food from faraway places. ~Plus, local farms often use more sustainable practices, such as organic farming, which reduces the amount of pesticides and other chemicals used on crops. ~This also helps to preserve local biodiversity and protect the health of the soil. Yeah🤗You're🫵🏾 making a difference in so many ways, simply by buying local produce! 👏 #ECO30Impact - my little step to saving mother Earth☺️🤭

🌿 Greening the Spaces Beyond Our Boundaries! 🌿 At our Lucky Core Industries Pharmaceutical Hawkesbay Plant, we’ve taken sustainability beyond the workplace by initiating an organic waste composting project outside our plant premises. Cafeteria waste is being transformed into nutrient-rich compost, which is now fueling plantation efforts in the surrounding areas. This initiative demonstrates our commitment to: ✅ Creating greener spaces around our plant ✅ Enhancing soil fertility through sustainable composting ✅ Reducing landfill waste and greenhouse gas emissions By focusing on the areas beyond our boundaries, we are not only enriching the environment but also fostering biodiversity and supporting community well-being. Together, let’s nurture a greener tomorrow! 🌍 🌱 #Sustainability #GreenInitiative #CircularEconomy #EnvironmentalCare #LCI

Happy World Environment Day. Let's make our environment better for the future, avoid doing harmfulness by cutting down trees, wasting foods or throwing plastic in clean areas. As an Agriculturalist, It's our prime duty to deal with the projects of production of food, fibres in a manner that can benefit the terrestrial, aquatic and manage the business related organisations of the world. We should focus on sustainable agriculture for a sustainable future. #environmemtday #sustainable #earth #earthday #betterfuture

Today is #EarthDay2024 🌎 💚 “What we’re trying to do as a business is to just tread lightly on the Earth. We’re looking at what we’re using and we’re trying to reduce that usage as much as possible.” – Mark Knight, Tangmere Airfield Nurseries’ Technical Crops Manager. At Tangmere, we’re committed to environmentally friendly sustainable growing and aim to become a more circular business to reduce our carbon footprint and help protect the planet. This is a continuous journey working with our customers and suppliers, as well as our own trials on the nursery. A few of our current practices include: ♻️ Reduce, reuse, and recycle – using eco-friendly products (e.g. compostable materials) and recycling schemes to reduce waste and promote sustainability. 🌱 Good bugs help protect our plants, against pests. 💧 Water is recycled using a closed loop irrigation system, meaning zero waste. ☀️ Promoting energy-efficient plant growth. 🌿 Enhancing the sites’ biodiversity. #EarthDay #Sustainability

Day 4 of #ECO30 Sustainable Living Challenge 2.0 Day 4 is not promoting local production - by buying and consuming local farm produce. Through this, there is less carbon footprint from less transport of farm produce. Buying local produce also ensures less farm produce is wasted as a result of it not being sold on time. This action is not just environmentally sustainable but also economically beneficial. I plan to increase my intake of fruits!😌 #ECO30 #Sustainable #economy #challenge #production #agriculture

When it comes to committing to sustainability - be it businesses, daily lifestyle or consumption, these choices are often considered temporary. For some, it’s a trend. Some believe we can stop being sustainable once our ecosystems are restored. There are many social and economic factors that play a role in shaping anyone’s beliefs on sustainability. We have to break it to you. Sustainability is a never-ending commitment. Because the need for sustainability is never-ending. While our planet is at a point well beyond the climate crisis, we desperately need to be sustainable. Not only to minimise further damage, but to also reverse the damage caused from centuries of over-consumption and waste. It needs to start at the ground floor. Farmers need to be empowered to help them become sustainable in their farming practices. Be it enabling their transition to sustainable farming products, prioritising quality & safety standards, conserving the ecosystem around them and more. And we have to stick to it. Because it is the overconsumption and commercialisation of farming that brought us to this point in the first place.

This National Composting Week, we're highlighting the benefits of home composting and how even the smallest of contributions can make a big combined difference in tackling one of the biggest environmental challenges in the UK and globally: peat. Peatlands play an important role in terms of carbon storage, biodiversity and water regulation. Covering only 3% of the global land surface, they store a staggering 30% of the world's soil carbon - twice as much as all the world's forests combined! Yet, in the UK, peatlands have been degraded, with one of the major contributors to degradation being peat extraction for horticultural use. Although the issues surrounding peat extraction and degradation are complex, we feel passionately that every effort to manage or restore peatland, however big or small, will contribute towards making a difference in the context of climate change, conservation, and sustainable land use. For Pinstone, this means putting our bokashi composting bin to good use, turning our food scraps, including meat, bones, fish and dairy, and coffee grounds (of which there are many!) into nutrient rich compost, which will be used by the green fingered members of the team to feed their home-grown veggies. Here’s where home (or office) composting can make a tangible difference: 🌼 Sustainable gardening: By composting at home, you can create a peat-free alternative for your gardens, reducing the demand for peat-based products. This not only preserves our precious peatlands but also reduces carbon emissions. 📉 Reducing waste: Composting organic waste at home means less material heading to the landfill where it would decompose anaerobically, producing methane, a notorious greenhouse gas. 🔄 Circular economy: Home composting is a perfect example of a circular economy, turning waste into resource for your garden. Together, we can protect our peatlands, fight climate change, and foster a healthier planet for future generations. #NationalCompostingWeek #SustainablePR #PeatFree #HomeComposting #Binfluencers #Bcorp
