On this #WorldHabitatDay, we celebrate the strength and determination of families such as Brishtu Chandra and Chinta Moni. Their new home has provided them with safety, security, and a solid base for a promising future. This home symbolizes more than just a roof over their heads; it is a nurturing environment where aspirations flourish, children prosper, and the community unites in strength.

Housing Shouldn't Be a Privilege On World Human Rights Day, I want to take a moment to reflect on a simple truth: safe, affordable housing is a human right. Yet, in today’s world, where you are born, your family’s circumstances, and the resources available to you often dictate whether you will have a stable place to live. Housing has increasingly become a commodity, driven by market forces and privilege, rather than a basic need accessible to all. At Habitat for Humanity Kingston, we believe housing should never be determined by luck or economic status. Everyone deserves a safe, decent place to call home, and it shouldn't be a privilege based on the cradle you're born into. We work every day to ensure families in our community have the opportunity to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. As we observe World Human Rights Day, let's commit to a future where housing is accessible for all, regardless of background or income. Together, we can create a world where housing is a right, not a privilege. #worldhumanrightsday #habitatkingston #habitatforhumanity #affordablehousing

At Habitat for Humanity, we know that a family should never have to spend more than 30% of their income on a home. Yet 1 in 3 families in the U.S. is above this threshold on housing costs. Through #HabitatVoicesInAction, local and state Habitat organizations have been uniting with partners, community members and volunteers to successfully advocate for housing policy changes that will improve access to affordable homes for millions of people across the United States. It is critical to address issues of home affordability at scale and this is why housing policies are so vital. 🏘️

Affordable housing is more than providing a place to live. It is about building a strong, healthy community. When families can access affordable homes, they have the stability to focus on their jobs, education, and health. This security strengthens neighborhoods, boosts local economies, and ensures that everyone has a fair chance to thrive. Affordable housing also supports diversity, bringing together people from all walks of life, fostering connection and community spirit. Imagine a community where everyone has a safe, comfortable place to call home. One where children can grow, families can support each other, and individuals can build their futures without the constant worry of high rent. Let’s champion affordable housing as a foundational need for all communities. Together, we can help build places where everyone can belong and succeed. #geancocommunitycenter #AffordableHousing #CommunityFirst

Did you know that June is National Homeownership month? At Habitat, we believe that everyone deserves a place to call home and we celebrate #affordablehousing at every level. Unfortunately, market-rate housing has become unaffordable for too many working class families, service workers, even our first responders. Homeownership is pivotal to community prosperity, offering increased neighborhood stability, lower crime rates, improved health and education for children, and heightened civic engagement. A family investing in a home is simultaneously investing in their community’s growth. Habitat for Humanity’s model exemplifies the transformative power of collaboration. Offering a hand up, not a handout, Habitat provides homes that are much more than structures; they symbolize hope and opportunity. Affordable housing can’t wait; the time is now. Let’s give #Arizona a hand up! Learn more at habitatcaz.org #habitatcaz #HabitatforHumanity #homeownership

If you want an example of Age-Friendly, look no further than what a group of folks in Duluth are doing to help neighbors. All while embracing the spirit of “Minnesota Nice.” This Age-Friendly effort encourage residents of Duluth help keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice for neighbors. The initiative, "Be MinneSNOWta NICE" was created by the BMN Group, a collective of passionate community members in Duluth who actively work to ensure that sidewalks remain accessible throughout the year. While the City of Duluth manages snow clearance adjacent to city property, effective sidewalk snow removal throughout the city requires collaboration from everyone in the community. However, not everyone can clear snow from their sidewalk. The BMN Group supports and empowers a social network of neighbors fostering a collaborative spirit of “Minnesota Nice” by helping each other clear sidewalks and walkways to maintain mobility choices and accessibility in all seasons. https://lnkd.in/gBj5HtgX #agefriendly #informalcaregiver
