Here at dentsu we work hard to create an inclusive, diverse culture where every body feels welcome. Where all our team can be their true authenntic self. We pride ourselves in sharing this vision with our clients and partners. This year marks the fourth year of our ‘dentsu and Friends’ campaign, with OOH space secured from our friends at JCDecaux UK. We placed the pride flag on billboards across the UK, with the design now on display throughout London for an estimated 10 million people to see. The campaign aims to highlight that Pride was always a protest. Hate crime statistics released late 2023 (ONS) reveal that England and Wales continues to become a less safe place for lesbian, gay, bi and trans people. The increase in hate crimes against trans people by 11% in a year, and by 186% in the last five years. Until 2015, ILGA-Europe – one of the continent’s biggest LGBTQ+ advocacy groups, based in Brussels – consistently described Britain as the most queer-friendly place in Europe. But a failure to ban conversion therapy and a toxic row over rights for trans people have seen the UK fall dramatically. According to the organisation’s annual Rainbow Map, the UK now places 16th – below Spain, Greece, Belgium, and Ireland. This is one spot higher than last year’s ranking of 17th place, but down from 14th place in 2022. #Pride #LGBTQ #DEI #Diversity #Inclusion https://lnkd.in/eviTcPgV

On 23 May 1988, the eve of Section 28 becoming law, a group of courageous lesbian activists took a bold stand against the UK government's discriminatory legislation. In a dramatic act, four women – including Booan Temple – burst into a live BBC news broadcast, interrupting the programme to declare in defiant unison: "Stop Section 28!" This unprecedented protest unfolded against the backdrop of rampant homophobia, with 75% of the British public at the time believing same-sex relationships were "almost always wrong." LGBTQ+ individuals faced constant attacks, denied the basic dignity of being able to live openly and freely. Yet in the face of such adversity, these trailblazing activists refused to be silenced. Driven by a deep commitment to justice and a refusal to accept the marginalisation of their community, they courageously put themselves on the line to draw attention to the grave threat posed by Section 28. While the initial media response focused more on the dramatic nature of the protest than the activists' core message, this moment has endured as a powerful testament to the transformative impact of grassroots resistance. In the decades since, this historic act of civil disobedience has continued to reverberate, serving as an inspiration for all those who dare to challenge the status quo and fight for a more equitable world. By disrupting the sanctity of the BBC News, Booan Temple and her fellow activists demonstrated the power of standing up for justice, no matter the personal risk; reminding us that even in our darkest hours, the determined actions of a few can spark critical conversations and catalyse meaningful change. #Section28 #LGBTQ #Lesbians #LGBTHistory https://lnkd.in/eZ6brujF

How do we have Representatives who support terror and antisemitism on campus? Perhaps AOC would act different if the attacks on the Columbia campus were directed at LGBTQ or Hispanic students instead of Jewish students? Remember that Palestinians, Hamas and Iran do not tolerate LGBTQ or women who speak their mind. And you are in support of them? REALLY? As with most NY leaders and the administration and faculty of Columbia, their silence is deafening. Allowing the takeover of a campus by a minority of terrorists masquerading as students with open verbal and physical attacks against other students should never be tolerated, and those perpetrators need to be removed and arrested immediately. Those non-citizens taking part should be considered as potential terrorists and treated as such by Homeland Security. There is a level of tolerance, and then there is what we are seeing today that goes way beyond any level of peaceful protest. If AOC doesn't like it, she is welcome to go to Gaza and join the hostages to see what it is truly like there. https://lnkd.in/e-b_dY2J https://lnkd.in/ei7jZf-V

Let's join together to stand up to hate. On September 20, 2024 there is a mass nationwide coordinated protest planned in front of legislature and schools that is targeting 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Protester are protesting against teaching inclusive “woke” content. This is an attack on gender identity and expression with false claims of indoctrination. We need to stand together as a community to protect the rights of trans and queer people. It is time for a counter protest. Please join us on September 20 for a peaceful counter protest. Bring your noise makers and stay safe. Stand with us in solidarity. Love is stronger than hate. Consider these tips. 1. Wear a mask 2. Bring water, sunscreen, a sign, and a friend. 3. Being identified can be dangerous. We have been doxed. 4. Do not engage protestors or conflict. 5. Focus on a peaceful and positive message. #StandUpToHate #2SLGBTQIACommunity #InclusiveEducation #GenderIdentityRights #TransRights #QueerRights #CounterProtest #SolidarityInAction #LoveOverHate #PeacefulProtest

New Blog!📝 The right to protest is a topic of discussion that has gained significant attention in recent times. With the introduction of new legislation that could potentially impact activist groups advocating for various causes, the question arises: should such actions be permissible? What do you think? #protest #activism #legislation #discussion

#OnThisDay in 1960, 69 peaceful protesters were gunned down for demonstrating against the apartheid regime and “pass laws” that were adopted to restrict and control the movement and employment of millions of Black South Africans. In the wake of what came to be known as the Sharpeville massacre, the international community proclaimed March 21 as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This day symbolizes the world's collective commitment to combat and eliminate racial discrimination in all its forms. We reaffirm our dedication to fostering equality and justice for all. Action by State is critical in the face of racial injustice. We urge States, communities and individuals, to continue working together towards a world where everyone enjoys the same rights and opportunities. On #FightRacism Day, we pay tribute to the fights and resilience of all racialised people around the globe. We recognize the interconnectedness of their struggles for racial equality. Many of them draw inspiration from the liberation movements of people of African descent and the African diaspora. This global solidarity underscores the shared commitment to combatting racial discrimination in all its forms and intersectional aspects.

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO PROTEST OVER THE SUMMER? Even if I don't agree with them, I find student PEACEFUL protests wonderful. They are good for character building; they demonstrate to the world that America really is different; they infuse life into America's founding philosophies, especially the rights of free speech and government petition; and they can (should) be educational in that it is hoped that students are protesting based on knowledge and not just community. But the phenomenon of students protesting seems to die as soon as the vacation bell is rung; it is as if the world suddenly righted itself and protests are no longer required. For those students who really are committed to changing the world by protest, perhaps a shift in focus is warranted and the time to make that shift is this summer. The subject that should be on student radar is gender apartheid -- a protest against the treatment of women as second-class people by much of the world. Bill Maher explains: https://lnkd.in/e7eDmEPU
