Our team had a very heartwarming morning at Make a Wish 'Trees of Joy'. A magical event where numerous local businesses come together to decorate trees and fill them with presents for local wish kids and their families! This year Halifax raised $150,000. There were 255 trees decorated across Canada and over 2 million raised! Thank you to Make a Wish for bringing love and light to so many this holiday season! ✨

Last year was incredible for A Good Thing – over 1.8 million things were donated to charities across the UK! A huge thank you to the 92 organisations that listed offers and supported our mission to send less to landfill and more to a good cause. Together, we’ve saved charities over £600,000; what an excellent achievement. On average, there was a new offer on the platform every day in 2023, as many of our businesses and charities adopted A Good Thing as part of their waste management processes. A fascinating array of items were listed and snapped up by local charities. We’ve seen it all, from carpet tiles to chargers, furniture to face masks, ladders to lanyards, pens, pencils and even a baby grand piano! – they’ve all found a new home via the A Good Thing platform. We’re thrilled that 270 charities have received the things they need to help run their projects. 🎉🎉🎉 None of this would be possible without our fantastic team of volunteers. They are talented and dedicated individuals who generously share their time and skills to support our mission. They help us develop the A Good Thing platform and increase our presence through local outreach, content creation and business development. We simply wouldn’t have achieved all we have in 2023 without them. Thank you to everyone for your continued support. 💛🌻 #impact #sendlesstolandfill #supportlocal #impactreporting #impactreport #charityspend #charitynews #donation #community #volunteer #volunteers #awesomepeople #thankyou #circulareconomy #sharingeconomy #recycling #reducewaste #sharingiscaring

Imagine this: if everyone who went out for a meal added just £1 to their bill for charity, how much could be raised in a single day? The numbers would be shocking. And that’s exactly the idea behind StreetSmart – a brilliant initiative turning dining out into a way to help tackle homelessness and poverty. Here’s how it works: participating restaurants, pubs, and bars add £1 to your bill (or more if you’d like) during November and December. That small addition can create a huge impact. Thanks to StreetSmart’s partner, LandAid, 100% of your donation goes directly to those who need it, with all admin costs covered. Last year alone, StreetSmart raised over £1 million. The funds were used for everything from emergency shelters and counselling services to training programs that help people get into work. It’s proof that small gestures really can lead to big changes. In Manchester, these fantastic venues are already on board: - Climat, Manchester City Centre - Tampopo, Albert Square & Corn Exchange - Banyan, Corn Exchange & Spinningfields - Manahatta & BOX, Deansgate - Bottega by San Carlo, Exchange Square - 20 Stories, Spinningfields - Street Urchin & Mana, Ancoats - The Lead Station, Chorlton - Tariff and Dale, Northern Quarter - Stretford Canteen, Stretford - Restaurant Orme, Urmston The list is great, but there’s room for more. If you know a restaurant, pub, or bar that might be interested in joining, encourage them to get involved. It’s a great way to give back during the festive season. And next time you’re dining out, keep an eye out for the StreetSmart sign. Share a post or story to shout out the venue and remind others to do the same. One pound may not feel like much, but together, it can make a huge difference. Let’s spread the word and make this a festive season to remember for all the right reasons.
