Understeer and oversteer, this was the subject of our last class with our Motorsport mentor Fábio de Souza Moraes Mori from the Stock Car team Full Time Sports. From there, I will never forget these 2 crucial concepts in Motorsport: Understeer = This occurs when a car turns less than what the driver intends, often due to loss of grip in the front tires. It’s common when entering a turn too fast, causing the car to continue straight instead of following the curve. Oversteer = This happens when a car turns more than the driver intends, usually because the rear tires lose grip. It can occur when accelerating too quickly in a turn, leading to the rear of the car sliding outwards.
