Calling my bioinformatics, computational, and data friends: What would the advantage be to this new SNP-based triploid detection method vs flow cytometry? New preprint from French researchers describes a new bioinformatics tool in R to call triploids from SNP arrays. It's clearly cheaper to run an Array than to invest 40K+ on a flow cytometer. Any of my connections that run Arrays or sequencing want to work with me to set up a commercial ploidy test with all the buzz about triploids? Hit me up. #BetterCannabisThroughScience This is the kind of thing I do.

I am happy to share that I have successfully completed a two-day Online Workshop on "Bioinformatics and Molecular Docking: Application in drug discovery" organised by NextGen Life Sciences. Key concepts covered in this workshop were; 💻 Introduction and Applications of Bioinformatics 🧬 Sequence Alignment ⚛️ Molecular docking 💊 Drug discovery One of the interesting things learnt in this workshop was the use of different software for visualising the docking result, which was an entirely new thing to me. Hoping to attend more of these workshops and enhance my skills. #bioinformatics #moleculardocking #Researchinlifesciences #Nextgenlifesciences

Mash is a bioinformatics tool for fast genome and metagenome similarity estimation using MinHash-based k-mer comparisons. For example, to find reads in a second FASTQ file that overlaps at least 10 bases with reads from the first file: ``` mash sketch -k 10 -o query first.fastq mash screen query.msh second.fastq > matches.tаb ``` https://lnkd.in/gu_KErQD #metagenomics #bioinformatics
