"🌸 Crystal clear art! Excited to share the latest cover design I created for Crystal Growth & Design, featuring the article: “Size Asymmetry in Multidomain Single Crystals and the Development of Curved Surfaces,” by Hadar Nasi and collaborators from the labs of Michal Lahav and Milko van der Boom. This unique research, published in a special issue celebrating Mike Ward's contributions to molecular crystal growth, unveils a fascinating new type of single crystal with a flower-like, multidomain morphology and six curved petals on each side. Despite this intricate structure, these crystals are truly single! 🌿 The study maps out how these petals form by indexing crystal planes at different growth stages and examining the orientation of petals relative to the solvent-crystal interfaces, revealing connections between size asymmetry and curved surfaces in molecular crystals. The Leaky Bodies Archives The Leaky Bodies Archives challenges the conventional idea of the body as a closed, autonomous system. This interactive installation invites us to see the body as porous, fluid, and deeply intertwined with its surroundings. By breaking with the “one-body-one-person rule” (Boll & Müller, 2020), we join feminist scholars who have long questioned the boundaries of the body, seeing it as leaky, permeable, and dissolving (Shildrick, 1997; Mol, 2002; Hildyard, 2017). The aim of this project is to radically rethink what bodies and their boundaries mean. We ask: how do leaky bodies feel? Visitors are invited to actively contribute to the archive by documenting their own experiences of bodily leakage. Much like tea tasters develop a nuanced language to describe flavors, we aim to create a new vocabulary to capture different forms of bodily leakage. The process of documenting is an ongoing experiment—a method-in-the-making where archiving becomes a playful act of merging and leaking. The Leaky Bodies Archives encourages us to reimagine the body, not as fixed and sealed, but as a fluid entity in constant connection with its environment.
