Today we celebrate International Women’s Day, a day where we recognise the individual and cumulative achievements of all women, regardless of race, age, shape, colour, faith or identity.   “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation, but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”   The theme for 2024 is Inspire Inclusion.   When women are not present, we must ask “If not, why not?”   When we stand together, we can inspire those around us to fully understand the call and need for the inclusion of women in all fields.   We strike the #inspireinspiration pose to show that when we truly value difference, inclusion comes from the heart. #inspireinclusion #iwd #internationalwomensday #scg #equality

On International Women’s Day, as I reflect on the journey towards equality, I find myself asking, “Have I done enough? Can I be better?” The answer is a resounding yes. Today isn’t just a day to celebrate the incredible achievements of women; it’s also a moment for everyone to introspect and ask ourselves how we can contribute to creating a world of true equality. It’s a call to action for each of us to support, uplift, and celebrate not just today, but every day. Let’s commit to being better allies, to listening, to learning, and to taking actionable steps towards an inclusive future where everyone’s contributions are valued. Today (8 March) is International Women's Day (IWD). IWD is a global event that celebrates social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. IWD recognises the progress achieved in women's rights and empowers them to continue striving for equality. On this special day, individuals, groups, and organisations across the globe unify to celebrate and support women's advancement. This year's theme is 'Inspire Inclusion'. When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment. World-renowned feminist, journalist and activist, Gloria Steinem is said to have explained, "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist, nor to any one organisation, but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights". As a community-based organisation, Homes North promotes gender equality, diversity and inclusivity, celebrates and values our differences, while rejecting stereotypes and discrimination. Inspire Inclusion - this year’s International Women’s Day theme gives me a moment to relect on the position of women in society - both explicit and implicit. For me inclusion starts from within, inside out - how do I see myself as a woman and how do I see my role in society. And, second, with solidarity to other women - women need to be powerful inclusion agents themselves. #iwd2024 #inspireinclusion

It’s March 8th, #InternationalWomensDay2024, and HerRights Global is celebrating with a look at the advances women have made, and the historical experience that shaped our reality. Much of the movement for equality began in 1909 as a call by women for #workersrights and #womensrights, which was seen as deeply radical at the time. They were fighting for safe workplaces, #fairpay and efforts to prevent #sexualassault in war zones and workplaces. These ideas are no longer radical in the eyes of U.S. citizens, but we still haven't achieved the goals. We invite you to imagine a gender equal world. Today's awesome thought: There are many challenges of being a woman in today's world. From corporate to motherhood and everything else in between. This is not to take away from challenges faced by men, and, in reality we should all work towards a gender equal world, for the benefit of all. I am appreciative of the continuous collective and individual contributions in working towards a gender equal world. While a lot more still needs to be done to achieve this, I believe it's important to also celebrate those contributions and the work that has been done so far.
