Qantas Airways now faces a 24-hour strike on October 23, 2024, as engineers demand better wages and improved conditions. As a result, unionized engineers, frustrated with ongoing talks, have called for this strike after Qantas Airways refused to discuss a new agreement. It is concerning to learn about the struggles of American Airlines Flight Attendants are facing in receiving a fair salary increase. The denial of this increase by AA CEO, Mr. Robert Isom, is disappointing. Additionally, the reported weaknesses in the AA union representation are disheartening. Having served as a former USPS Shop Steward, I empathize with the flight attendants. I encourage them to consider taking action by either pursuing legal recourse or voting to change their union representation. Comparing the situation to other major airline unions highlights the disparity in treatment and benefits. I support AA flight attendants for their quest to a higher pay salary and contract by September. If not, they should take legal action against AA ans their union. #Airlines #contract #salary #fairness #union #negotiation American Airlines Delta Air Lines United Airlines Southwest Airlines For more details on the challenges faced by American Airlines Flight Attendants and the recent developments, you can visit the following link: https://lnkd.in/ggxX6CQS #AmericanAirlines #FlightAttendants #UnionRepresentation #SalaryIncrease

Canadian Rail Workers Consider Strike Over Safety Concerns Rail workers across Canada are preparing for a possible strike that may disrupt the nation’s supply chains, impacting various sectors including grains and automotive manufacturing. The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC), representing over 9,000 employees at Canadian National Railway (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Ltd. (CPKC), has authorized strike action starting May 22 if negotiations with the freight carriers do not yield a satisfactory agreement. The rail workers, comprising locomotive engineers, conductors, yard workers, and rail traffic controllers, have been working without a contract since December 31, 2023. The TCRC has expressed concerns about proposed reductions in safety measures, which they consider essential for worker safety. Eugene Bernard, a train conductor at CN, emphasized that safety on the job is the main issue. He mentioned past accidents and fatalities, including the Lac-Megantic train derailment, highlighting ongoing risks faced by rail workers. CN and CPKC have presented proposals directly to their employees, bypassing the union, a move criticized by the TCRC as undermining the... https://lnkd.in/dhVSec6r

Qantas engineers at major airports across Australia, including Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth, have started further strike action this morning as part of an ongoing pay dispute. The engineers are demanding a 15% immediate pay increase and an additional 5% over the next three years. Union representatives from The Qantas Engineers' Alliance, which consists of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, Australian Workers Union and Electrical Trades Union, argue that Qantas must recognise the engineers' critical role in maintaining safety, particularly during COVID-19, and address years of real wage cuts. While engineers have warned of possible flight delays, Qantas has stated that contingency plans are in place, and no significant disruptions are expected. The unions have indicated that further strikes may occur if negotiations do not progress. #Qantas #IndustrialAction #PayDispute #EmployeeRights #StrikeAction https://lnkd.in/gW2syP_f

United Airlines' flight attendants went on strike during Labor Day weekend, causing significant disruptions to travel plans. The strike has thrown airports into chaos as many flights were delayed or canceled. This protest is part of a broader dispute between the flight attendants' union and United Airlines over working conditions and pay. The timing of the strike has exacerbated the situation as Labor Day is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. The strike is significantly affecting New York and New Jersey, particularly at major airports like Newark Liberty International Airport, a key hub for United. Many flights to and from these airports are facing delays and cancellations, leading to travel disruptions for passengers during one of the busiest weekends of the year. Travelers in the region are experiencing longer wait times and are being advised to explore alternative travel options or adjust their plans. The duration of the strike by #UnitedAirlines flight attendants is currently unclear. The situation is ongoing, and the union and airline are in negotiations. Travelers are advised to check their flight status and consider alternative arrangements. #aviationlaw #faa #flightattendants #legalexperts #newyork #newjersey https://lnkd.in/eyDscwKK
