And thank you #AmericanAssociationforPhysicianLeadership(AAPL) for your support. This book is intended to help physicians aspiring to become a Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Included are tips and tricks on topics ranging from how to find a CMO job to creating a top-notch, competitive resume to acing one’s interview. You will also learn the results of a survey of CEOs, Regional CMOs, and System CMOs as to what they are looking for when hiring a Chief Medical Officer. Not all CMO jobs are created the same and you will learn from successful CMOs about the difference between a CMO at a hospital and a CMO of a medical group, health plan, or health system. I am often confronted with people asking: "what is it that you do? What is a Dr Relationship Manager? " AI’s definition of a Doctor Relationship Manager or a Doctor Liaison Manager as they are called in the USA: A Doctor Liaison Manager is a professional responsible for facilitating and maintaining positive relationships between healthcare facilities, such as hospitals or clinics, and medical professionals, particularly doctors. Their primary role involves serving as a bridge between the medical facility and doctors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. Doctor Liaison Managers often engage in activities such as promoting services offered by the healthcare organization to doctors, organizing educational events or seminars, addressing concerns or feedback from doctors, and fostering a supportive environment for doctors to enhance patient care. They may also be involved in developing strategies to attract and retain medical talent, as well as coordinating efforts to improve patient outcomes through effective doctor engagement. Overall, Doctor Liaison Managers play a crucial role in building and sustaining mutually beneficial partnerships between healthcare institutions and the medical community. I love this definition which encompasses my role in the healthcare industry perfectly 😁

Here are our final tips on networking for impactful Medical Science Liaison’s: The skills of the effective networker apply to our KOLs as much as they do to a party, a new job, a committee assignment, or even when you and your family are new to the neighborhood. KOLs want to know that you are confident and capable. They want to know that you won’t waste their time but do want you to give them all the time they need. And KOLs really want insights, just like you want from them, to help their patients. Dressing well gets you in the door and makes the initial impression. Yes, it is superficial, but how do you see those who are well put together as opposed to those who just left their dorm room? This is important for virtual meetings too! Be present and listen. Make it about them and their patients. Engage their staff with genuine interest, use their names, and make notes for next time. Be a light in their day. Insights from a PharmD & an Executive Coach. Every field in the practice of medicne and health are all important irrespective of your field of specialization. This does not mean that some fields does not make notable great impacts neither does it make other medical fields less impactful. An example of this was my experiences in medical school where I developed strong love and passion for everything about the heart, but never regarded others interested in public health or other fields I termed minor out of ignorance. My passion for the heart made me to channel my skills towards becoming a cardiologist. Let me take you back my history briefly. I used to have a special oratory skills undeveloped as a teenager. Because of the little impacts it made over the years, I developed my public speaking ability and till date, I can consider myself a powerful speaker with an oratory aura that commands and compels my audeince to positive compliance. Now combining my profession as a doctor and my oratory skills, an added passion for health campaign programs, healthcare seminar/ presentations , public health, community health programs and outreaches was birthed. Now the field I never valued is now one of my biggest channel that is advancing my medical career on the front line Do you get anything out of this post? Drop your comment.
