Speaking with outstanding women leaders is one of my most favorite activities! All of our journeys are different and we, collectively, learn so much from one another! Which woman in history is more attractive than Jane Fonda? Which woman is more effusive? Astute, poignant, alluring, magnetic and positively charming? Ms Fonda was a voice for so many powerless folks. So often was she a champion of the people you so often forget she was a human herself. Whenever I see her talk I realise that I have yet a lot to learn about communication. You'll notice that there is no one with quite the same energy as Ms Fonda. The strength of her convictions was her superpower. She simply believed EXACTLY what she said. Her 'airs and graces' are actually her strength of character in *disguise*. In truth there's nothing hidden about the intentions of Jane. She always said EXACTLY what she intended to. And there was never any room for doubt that she meant every word. Who else speaks with such immediacy as well as such grace? JFK? Martin Luther King Jnr? This was the defiantly optimistic generation. They are my heroes. Our defiant optimism is the antidote to the defiant cynicism that pervades our world. It can put strain on your relationships with anyone who isn't used to your devotion. It can draw unwanted attention to you from those who perhaps wish they felt the same compunction you do. But when you feel it in your bones you intone like Jane. She's Muhammad Ali when she speaks. But she's Jane. I don't know of a more singular orator. Her voice is dulcet, sweet yet awe-inspring. She speaks in an unwavering tone, with all of the authority of someone who lives and breathes every truth on her tongue. I am still learning the time tested art and science of speaking with my diaphragm to intone my most authoritative voice in every quarter. This is surely the way that we must address one another in trying times. With unwavering confidence. With a new sense of purpose. Look in her eyes. Who could not trust her intentions? Who could question her convictions? She is a women WHO CARES. Who teaches us all what it looks like to REALLY give a shit. I adore her. What a heroic lady. She means what she says and she says what she means. At the end of every sentence we feel the subtext 'THERE CAN BE NO QUESTION'. Do you want to communicate like Jane? You can. 1. Look up the words to your favourite speech in history on your phone. 2. Drive to your most inspiring public area where you can speak loudly. I like to go to the beach when there is a low tide. 3. Read your speech to nature. Breathe through your nose, intaking the most air you can from your diaphragm. 4. Google speaking techniques. Try them out and record your results. 5. Listen to yourself speaking on the car radio on the way home. Are you impressed? Hopefully, yes. 6. Humbly thank yourself for entertaining yourself. Let's practice being like Jane. Speaking the truest words we can. Confidently.

Attended the 'International Women's Day' breakfast meet organized by DIFC Innovation Hub and boy oh boy what an event it was! From meeting so many lovely ladies, to sharing experiences, to listening to creative ideas, the sessions had it all. Key takeaways for me: 1) When you are the only woman in a room full of men, you represent all women, ensure your voice is heard, have your say 2) Support other women around you, together we can create an inclusive world 3) Ask for help from those around you, we need more male allies to be supportive 4) Learn to unlearn, relearn and upskill. May the learning never stop 5) Financial independence is key, be your own boss 6) Be greedy, never settle for less. Happy Woman's Day to all you girls out there. May we remember to celebrate ourselves everyday. I had an opportunity to share my thoughts on the interactive Q&A that was hosted. A little snapshot of the same.
