We recently completed an intense and highly effective Counter Carjacking Course, empowering participants with the skills and mindset to stay safe in high-threat situations. This course focused on realistic, scenario-based training to prepare individuals for one of the most unpredictable and dangerous crimes: carjacking. Participants learned: • Situational Awareness: Recognizing threats before they materialize. • De-escalation Tactics: Reducing the likelihood of violence whenever possible. • Escape Techniques: Safely exiting a vehicle under duress. • Defensive Driving Skills: Using your vehicle as a tool to escape danger. • Self-Defense Applications: Combative techniques for in-close encounters. The training simulated real-world scenarios, helping attendees build confidence in their ability to respond decisively while under stress. Each participant left with the tools to protect themselves and their loved ones, no matter the situation. This course wasn’t just about defense—it was about prevention, preparation, and protection. At Hard Target Solutions, we believe that every skill you learn today could save a life tomorrow. Stay tuned for our next course offering—your safety is worth the investment! #HardTargetSolutions #CounterCarjacking #StaySafe #Preparedness

You Hear a Bump in the Night—What Happens Next Could Change Everything It’s late at night, and a noise jolts you awake. Your heart is racing, adrenaline surging as you grab your firearm. In the chaos of the moment, your finger instinctively lands on the trigger, and fear starts to take over. You’re frozen, unsure of your next move, your mind racing faster than your ability to think clearly. This is exactly how accidents happen. Keeping your finger off the trigger until you’ve made the conscious decision to shoot is one of the most important rules of firearm safety. In high-stress situations, fear can lead to mistakes, and with a firearm, mistakes can be deadly. Owning a gun for self-defense is a serious responsibility. It’s not just about owning the tool—it’s about knowing how to use it safely, store it properly, and act responsibly under pressure. Proper training teaches you more than just how to shoot. It builds the discipline to handle situations like these with confidence, calm, and control. Your gun is a tool, not a solution to fear. Without training, it can become more of a risk than a safeguard. Safety is a mindset, and training is the foundation of responsible firearm ownership. Don’t let fear take over. Don’t be the person whose lack of preparation leads to tragedy. Be the protector who’s trained, disciplined, and ready. Keep learning. Keep training. Stay safe. #firearmsafety #triggerdiscipline #dontbethisguy #responsibleownership #trainhard #besafe #selfdefense #alwaysprepared #training #responsibility #homedefense #uscca #knowledgeispower #propertechnique #lioness #firearminstructor

I recently attended Tactical Response's Fighting Pistol class again (December 14th & 15th) and wanted to share my experience... This class was instructed by Joey Glover, and besides myself, two other Kentuckians were in attendance. As a refresher course, I aimed to reinforce previous learning and identify any gaps. Joey exceeded my expectations. I carried my everyday gear: a Glock 48 in an NSR Tactical holster. The class began with introductions, safety rules, medical planning, and class objectives. We explored Survival Principles (Mindset, Tactics, Skill, and Gear) and tactical gun handling. Key topics included: Fundamentals: Sight alignment, picture, trigger control, follow-through, proper grip, and effective draw. The Wyatt Protocol: Understanding the verbal command "STOP!" and its importance. Malfunctions: Identifying and correcting Type 1, 2, and 3 malfunctions. Stopping Power: Principles of stopping the human body. Shooting Positions: Strong hand only, off-hand only, shooting on the move, turns, and ground fighting techniques. The range portion emphasized practical application. I learned the importance of slowing down, focusing on the front sight, and ensuring accurate hits, as "only hits count." Day 2 began with a review of Day 1 and culminated in the invaluable Mindset and Legal Lecture by James Yeager. This lecture alone justified the course cost. Mindset: The lecture stressed the importance of a strong fighting mindset, its development, and its crucial role in self-defense. Legal Considerations: The lecture provided in-depth information on the use of deadly force and its legal ramifications. The range portion of Day 2 focused on: Cover and Concealment: Proper use of cover and concealment, shooting from different positions, and shooting around them. Retention and Distance: Techniques for shooting from retention and creating distance from an attacker. The class concluded with a debrief and certificate distribution. Key Takeaways: Mindset: Re-emphasized the importance of a strong and prepared mindset. Tactics: Refined my understanding of the Wyatt Protocol and the importance of creating distance during defensive retention. Skill: Recognized the need to slow down and prioritize accuracy, especially when shooting around cover. Gear: Acknowledged the need to incorporate a less-lethal option and a quality light into my kit. This refresher course exceeded my expectations. I gained valuable insights and renewed my commitment to responsible self-defense. #TacticalResponse #FightingPistol #Glock #ThisIsTheWay

Most people don’t know how to respond in an active shooter situation. Even the RUN, HIDE, FIGHT protocol is often misunderstood. When faced with danger, the first step is to DECIDE what to do. Panic often leads to poor choices. RUN doesn’t mean panic; it means CREATE DISTANCE from the threat. HIDE doesn’t mean just crawl under something; it’s about DELAYING CONTACT until help arrives. FIGHT is not just about courage; it’s about having the skills to DEFEND AGAINST THE WEAPON. "We don’t rise to the occasion; we fall to the level of our training." Preparation is key in crisis situations. The best time to prepare for a crisis is now—not during the crisis. New protocol: DON’T RUN, CREATE DISTANCE. DON’T HIDE, DELAY CONTACT. DON’T FIGHT, DEFEND AGAINST THE WEAPON. Good decisions under pressure can save lives. Train your mind to respond effectively. Empower yourself with the right skills! Check out my FREE Active Shooter Survival course.
