It feels great to have delivered a talk on my passion for “Sustainability and Green Communications” at the Thinknet 6G Summit in Munich, where leading academic and industry experts gathered. It was an honor to kick off the “Sustainability” session!
I began by discussing energy-saving strategies in 4G and 5G, shedding light on the limitations of current systems and the challenges with existing energy-efficiency metrics.
For 6G, I emphasized critical aspects of green communications and how we can utilize them to enhance energy savings, including:
🔹 Cell-free mMIMO – Boosting network efficiency while reducing energy consumption.
🔹 Open RAN – Fostering openness and flexibility in network infrastructure.
🔹 AI-assisted Resource Management – Leveraging AI for smarter, more efficient networks.
Together, we examined how these technologies are not only expanding the possibilities in telecommunications but also tackling essential challenges related to sustainability, energy efficiency, and reliability in the upcoming 6G era.
A huge thank you to organisers of this event. I'm excited to see how our collective efforts will shape the future of telecommunications!
