Hello Possums!! The cuteness is undeniable... but did you know that relocating possums often leads to tragic outcomes? Moving a noisy roof dweller may seem like a quick fix, but the reality is that relocated possums are often left lost, homeless, and without food. They're vulnerable to predators, often hit by cars, and face aggression from resident possums in new territories. Most importantly, the stress alone can be fatal. 😔 So, what’s the humane way to help? The answer is simple: keep them in their own area and provide a nest box. Securing entry points like loose roof tiles and offering a safe space is the best way to live alongside these native neighbours. I had a fantastic time this past week working with city employees in Oklahoma City -- from waste management to animal control to public transportation to courthouse staff to utilities to zoo personnel and many, many others. Today PEDIGREE Foundation announced the recipients of its 2024 PEDIGREE Foundation Canadian Grant program, awarding $100k to support 10 animal shelters and rescue organizations in need. Since extending grant support to Canada in 2022, PEDIGREE Foundation has provided $345k to Canadian shelters and rescues to implement critical programs like fostering, behavioral training, and safety net initiatives that help reduce the length of stay and increase dog adoption. To date, these programs have helped more than 15,000 dogs in Canada.
