Leading on from a post about working together for more connected, cohesive support services cross Government/Councils/Charities, I'm particularly interested in understanding how these organisations perceive each other and if there are any feelings of apathy or resentment. Of course, as a Charity Founder, I have my feelings on funding and where funding ends up, but I won't let it get in the way of building relationships across Government, Councils, and other Charities. We are in it together, and I have met some amazing people who work in Government and Local Authorities. I truly understand that some other sources of apathy might be present from such areas as: * Bureaucracy * Misaligned priorities * Lack of communication * Resource constraints If you work in a local authority, government-funded organisation, or government department, have you ever felt that your services are not valued or appreciated? If you run a charity or community organisation, have you experienced frustration or resentment towards local authorities or government-funded organisations? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences. #publicservices #charity #localgovernment #government #apathy #resentment"

Most of my #charity clients are geographically remote from where I live, so my meetings are usually online and that can create an emotional distance sometimes. This week however, I was able to visit a very small charity that I am giving some #probono support to. I attended their AGM where some of their beneficiaries shared their #stories. One in particular moved me. A young mum with a seven month old baby had fled an abusive relationship. She shared that she had lived in seven sets of temporary accommodation across a fifty mile radius in the last twelve months (that's my interpretation based on the locations she named). She had not had anywhere to call home. No-one should be without a place to call home and no-one should be experiencing #homelessness in the UK, yet it is rising significantly. I'm sometimes asked why I express a preference to work with charities. I even get the occasional odd look because my values drive my beliefs and business. So why am i sharing this... The answer is simple... I care. I like to think that in my own small way I can support #charities and enable them to focus on what they are set up to do, by taking the #dataprotection compliance burden off their shoulders. Where I can (& where it is appropriate) I offer pro-bono support. That's not a panacea for everyone to expect everything for free, but where I am moved, the offer will be there. #thirdsector #charityleadership #ukcharity

Clients who can’t pay for premium service but want premium results are basically asking you to fund their delusion. How does a registered charity go about applying for funding for programs from Province of Nova Scotia departments? I have written to MLA's MP's the Premier etc... and cannot get a reply to what should be a simple question, why is it so hard to get this info? Many jobs are on the line.

Behind every small charity is someone balancing multiple roles, often in their evening hours. Tonight my evening has consisted of: - Helping a friend write their trustee role descriptions - Working with my cousin to pull together my own charity annual accounts - Squeezing in Christmas shopping - Even finding time for some family history research This snapshot perfectly captures what running a small charity looks like. It's about making time in the quiet evening hours, between day jobs and family life, to keep our organisations running and support others in the sector. This is why peer support in the small charity sector is crucial. When we share our expertise and time with others, it creates a ripple effect of improved governance and stronger organisations across the sector. That's what makes our community special - real people, running real charities, supporting each other through the everyday challenges. #SmallCharities #CharityLeadership #PeerSupport #CharityGovernance

QCS 💚 supporting Hector's House! We've held many fundraising events for these guys! They do a superb job in raising suicide awareness, hosting men's clubs, signposting and educating adults and children about this cause, one that is close to my heart. Also, when they attend our events they usually bring Rupert. Nothing is as exciting as a dog in the office!!! 🐶 You can see below how I spend my time when Hector's House come for a visit 👇 If your business doesn't have a charity partner, maybe it's time to consider one (and maybe make it Hector's House). Here are some reasons why... 1 - Boost your employability. 2 - Helps you forge deeper ties within your community. 3 - Fosters a sense of pride and purpose. 4 - Helps inform your values and build your culture. 5 - Can increase sales and enhance brand reputation. 6 - Gives you a competitive advantage. 7 - Eases the burden of tax charges. For more info read the charity's blog post and give the guys a follow. They do important work. https://lnkd.in/euGt7n3d #charity #givingback #charitypartner #fundraising #suicideawareness Sarah O'Brien Karyn Taylor
