𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮 $𝗵𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀? If so, do you measure it? In my 2 ½ years researching the fastest-growing bootstrapped companies, I came across some awesome (I use that word a lot) companies that I consider world-class in their customer care. One example is the recruiting and staffing company @JCWGroup. The word “recruiter” might bring up images that aren’t particularly positive. JCW knew the perception of staffing companies in their industry and set out to professionalize the industry through hiring, training, adding value, and providing exceptional service, which propelled the company’s incredible growth. Their strategic weapon is called their 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 which is a list of the promises they make to their clients and their candidates. For example, they make sure they call each candidate they are working with at least once weekly to update them on the job application. If you’ve ever been a job candidate, you know how infrequently most companies communicate with you and how often you’ve been ghosted when the position was filled. JCW recruiters check in with their candidates every seventy-two hours to let them know how the search is going for the assignment. Help! We can’t seem to create enough opportunities. This is a common problem for lots of the companies that I work with. There is always a desire to find new customers. Hang on a minute. What about your existing customers? It is much easier to sell to an existing customer than it is to sell to a new one. Go back to all the companies that you have worked with in the past and see if you can work with them again. If you did a good job last time, they are likely to be happy to give you more work. In addition, you should ask for a referral. People are almost always happy to give a referral, they just need to be asked. If you are referred to someone else then you immediately have some credibility with them that you can use to more quickly establish trust with them and position yourself for more work. Have you helped - or hindered - your #referral sources connect you with qualified opportunities?... As a #fractionalexecutive, you are quite aware of how important referrals are to your business. As interested in providing referrals to you as your colleagues are, they are busy and usually not as clear about exactly who to introduce you to, or what to listen for, in order to make 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. I often get referrals - and they are much appreciated. As well intentioned as these introductions are, they can be “off the mark” unqualified referrals. Why? My colleagues need to know exactly the right referral construct and it is my responsibility to be crystal clear about this. I also need to properly guide referral sources about the most likely “𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀” or “𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀” - the specific circumstances- causing ideal prospects to reach out for professional guidance and service. For most fractionals, these “event triggers” would be when a company is going through some kind of significant “migraine headache” or change: 💥Loss of a key leader 💥 #Merger 💥 #Acquisition 💥 potential loss of funding or new round 💥 Loss of a major client - or several clients 💥 New leadership 💥 New product launch 💥 New product failure Help your referral partners help you by sharing what to listen for and who to listen to so they can be effective in their referring to you.
