HarvestPlus distributed zinc rice seed and trained farmers in its Scaling Biofortified Crop Production project in Sirajganj, Bangladesh. The project implemented by HarvestPlus and supported by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, aims to increase awareness and access to climate-smart, biofortified planting materials, boost production of nutrient-rich crops, and improve the enabling environment for nutritious foods. Earlier in this boro (irrigated) season, project distributed zinc rice seeds to 31,000 farmers in Sirajgonj, Panna and Natore district. The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and Nutritious Agrifuture Bangladesh (a network entity of HarvestPlus Solutions) organized an event at Belkuchi Upazilla auditorium in Sirajgonj. Susanto Dhar, Upazilla Agriculture Officer, DAE, Belkuchi Upazila (sub-district) chaired the meeting, while A. Z. M. Ahsan Shahid Sarker, Deputy Director, DAE, Sirajgonj District was the chief guest in the event. Mohammad Wahidul Amin, Country Coordinator, HarvestPlus Bangladesh and Mofidul Islam, District Training Officer, DAE, Sirajganj were present as special guests. Short rains season is almost here in Kenya. During this period we plant Beans. Below is a best trial on what needs to be done to plant Yellow Beans. This document is a detailed financial report for a farming enterprise focused on the cultivation of Katumani Bean 9 on a 1-acre plot. The report outlines the costs associated with various stages of the farming process, including land preparation, planting, fertilization, pest control, harvesting, and storage. It provides a comprehensive breakdown of the expenses for each activity, including the cost of seeds, manure, fertilizers (DAP and CAN), seed treatment, insecticides, fungicides, storage chemicals, transport, and labor. The report also calculates the total variable costs and includes an optional interest on working capital. The gross margin is computed based on the total gross output and the total variable costs, showing a significant profit margin. The document is structured to provide a clear overview of the financial aspects of the farming enterprise, making it suitable for budgeting, planning, and decision-making purposes. Source: Scientific reports Meta-analysis on dryland wheat yield and NUE in USA/China: Conservation tillage (CT) vs. conventional tillage (CT) shows high-NF boosts yield/NUE, low-NF reduces it. Leguminous cover crops (LCC) and manure improve yield/NUE at low-NF. NT with LCC raises yield by 58% and NUE by 47% compared to CT. Moderate NF with LCC and manure recommended for winter wheat in drylands.

"Whilst the yields of some crops were reduced in the NG scenario, the overall change in food production was not significant. This finding, together with the significant increase in arable plant diversity in the corresponding simulations supports the role of weed diversity in facilitating crop production37. The reduction in EIQ score following glyphosate removal (difference between G and NG Scenario) and increases in arable plant diversity additionally confirm the damaging role glyphosate plays in the farmed environment41,42" https://lnkd.in/dCSs57-8
