"With its eclectic design, the hotel feels as if you’ve stepped into a private home, where each corner offers a different experience. The rooftop, with its banana-leaf upholstered sofa, feels plucked straight from Los Angeles, while the basement jazz club—named after Salvador Dali’s ocelot, Babou—could easily belong in the Marais." ~ Hôtel Swexan featured in a recent Yolo Journal feature. Is the bathroom design/hotel industry like the airline industry? I ask this because I find it fascinating--in this article, it mentions a few times about the "lack of space" in hotels. For example, in Bismarck, ND, some of the most spacious buildings are hotels. So, how in the heck are you suffering from lack of space? Or, is it more that you are trying to put in as many rooms in one space as one possibly could to maximize room sales?

A week ago I posted about my experience of staying at an hotel with no bathroom door and how this seemed to be a trend developing in hotel room design, given it was the third property in as many months that had chosen to have an open plan bathroom. The response to my post (over 9,000 interactions) and survey (637 votes) was a little overwhelming but highlights the importance of understanding the customers views over design ideas. The vote was clear: Hotel bathrooms need doors - 97% Hotel bathrooms okay without doors - 3% Interestingly of the responders that are happy with hotel bathrooms not having doors 73% of them are male, I am not sure if that statistic is of any relevance at all but...! All jokes aside the evolution of hotel products and services is a key subject matter and one we will be tackling at The BTA conference in Gibraltar in a couple of months. #businesstravel #yourbta #corporatetravel #travelmanagement #bathrooms #hotels #design

Ever looked out of a hotel window and thought, 'Wow'? Here’s how we took that 'wow' and turned it up a notch. 👇 At the Holiday Inn Southend, we transformed ordinary windows into panoramic showcases. Why it mattered. ⤷ Beyond the aesthetic appeal, we aimed to enhance guest comfort and privacy, elevating the room's ambience and the dining experience to new heights. How we did it. ⤷ Selecting high-specification curtains and voiles, we ensured each window treatment not only captured the essence of luxury but also functioned to meet the diverse needs of guests and spaces within the hotel. The result. ⤷ An immersive experience where guests can dine under the stars at the 1935 Rooftop Restaurant or unwind in their rooms, all while enjoying a seamless blend of the outside beauty and interior sophistication. This project highlights our commitment to enhancing environments through thoughtful design and high-quality installations.
