The first eastbound transit of the 2024 #NorthernSeaRoute (#NSR) navigation season appears to be under way. BUT.... the vessel making this transit is not an Arc 7 #LNG carrier taking product from #Sabetta / #YamalLNG to Asia. The vessel highlighted in this marinetraffic.com screenshot is the Arc 7 shuttle tanker 'Shturman Skuratov'. It is currently located just off the west coast of the Taymyr Peninsula. The #NSR Administration (#Glavsevmorput) website indicates that the vessel is forecast to reach Cape Dezhnev (the eastern end of the #NSR / Bering Strait) in about 2 weeks (approx. 3rd July). Other vessel tracking websites indicate that the 'Shturman Skuratov' departed Kola Bay, near Murmansk, a few days ago and is headed to Kozmino Port, close to Vladivostok in the Russian Far East, a major hub for Russian oil exports (and is the terminus of #Transneft's East Siberia - Pacific Ocean / #ESPO pipeline system). Arrival at Kozmino is estimated at 20th July. The 'Shturman Skuratov' is one of a fleet of Arc 7 ice-class shuttle tankers operated by #GazpromNeft Shipping, to take oil produced at the company's Novoportovskoye oil field (southern Yamal Peninsula) from the #ArcticGates export terminal to the #Umba floating storage & offloading (#FSO) unit in Kola Bay. These shuttles operate year-round. The oil offloaded into the #Umba is normally reloaded onto conventional tankers for onward shipment out of the Arctic region. Very occasionally, oil from the #Umba moves eastwards via the #NSR to Asia. Several eastbound oil deliveries via the #NSR to Asia were made in 2023 (see link to related article in a comment below). #GazpromNeft indicated last year that they planned to increase eastbound oil shipments via the #NSR in 2024. So, it is almost certain that this is just the first of the 2024 navigation season, with some shipments likely to be made by lower ice-class tankers. And still no eastbound #NSR shipments of #LNG from #Sabetta in 2024. These normally begin in early/mid June.

Amasus contract with Bound4Blue for world’s largest suction sail on general cargo vessel - Amasus, one of Europe’s leading players in the shortsea, bulk, general cargo, offshore and heavy lift segments, has signed a fresh eSAIL® (suction sail) contract with Spain’s bound4blue. Under the new agreement, a 22-meter unit will be retrofitted on a 90-meter, 3,000 dwt vessel at Astander Shipyard in Santander, scheduled for mid-2025.
