We all know about the importance of acoustic design, in theory. The past few years, I have become more and more aware of the positive changes to acoustic standards and design in educational spaces (propelled by the BB93 document first released over 20 years ago). But today, I got to experience the extremes of acoustics, when I headed to the anechoic chamber London South Bank University , generously hosted by Shane Cryer and his team at Saint-Gobain Ecophon UK and Ireland . Going from a space that was full reverberation to a completely dead space set off my senses in a completely magical way. A bonus hearing test at the end has me even more grateful for my hearing - I just hope I am as good at actually listening!
