I am so excited to learning more about these technologies!
Nikolas Sandstrom, Ph.D. (KTH Royal Institute of Technology), is one of the invited speakers that will be featured at September's #Microscale Innovation in Life Sciences Symposium. His presentation, Microscale Well Arrays: A Window into Single-cell Dynamics, will round out the the Miniaturization for Screening Applications session which will focus on micro-compartmentalization techniques that apply microfluidics and pico/nano-scale platforms to better enable drug discovery efforts on a smaller scale. There's still time to reserve your spot in next month's symposium at the AstraZeneca Discovery Centre. https://lnkd.in/eY9vRdWE

𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲: 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 On 07th May, the IVAM Microtechnology Network will present technologies that have transitioned from fantasies in science fiction movies to actual technological reality. Which technologies were imagined or depicted in films several years or decades ago? What was once pure technological fantasy in the past and is reality today? I am honored to chair the extraordinary session on “Innovative Visions - Advancing Medtech for the Next Era”, highlighting our unwavering dedication to revolutionize vascular access and transform patient safety, bringing it to our daily reality at Ebnet Medical. I invite you to join me, along with a remarkable lineup of medtech innovators, such as Dr. Ulisses Jesús Gutiérrez Hernández from FlowBeams and the University of Twente, presenting the development of a needle-free injection technology. Additionally, Eilien Heinrich from Fraunhofer IMM and Nicolas Schierbaum from Fraunhofer-Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems will talk about advanced microtechnologies for single cell analysis in RNA-based cell and gene therapies. Lastly, Dr. Jochen Hoffmann from Bosch Research will present the decentralized molecular diagnostics platform Vivalytic. Let's innovate, collaborate, and revolutionize healthcare and patient safety together. Empathy and practical experience are key! https://lnkd.in/eEkVBvnW #vascularaccess #infusiontherapy #innovation #patientcare #patientsafety #medtech #event

"Excited to share that I've recently completed a research project as a part of ReachSci Hackathon, focused on evaluating the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of phone-linked biosensors for detecting MicroRNA 184 in the saliva of OSCC patients. In just 7 days, we explored MicroRNA 184 as a potential diagnostic biomarker and investigated the development of a graphene oxide-based biosensor for its detection in OSCC. #ReachSciHackathon #Research #Biosensors #OSCCDetection #Innovation"

Last week Nicholas Akosa attended the AMC meeting in Birmingham The AMC or ATMP manufacturing community brings together stakeholders from across the #CellandGeneTherapy ecosystem with a shared focus on manufacturing. Last weeks' event - it's 25th! - was a deep dive into the evolving landscape of autologous cell therapies and their manufacturing processes. Here are some of our key takeaways: 👉 Technology Transfer in Autologous Processes: Holly Garlick highlighted the importance of considering variability in patient material and the strategies to manage it. These included really defining patient starting material, conducting runs where variability is introduced into starting material to determine potential impact, and implementing split batches to assess manufacturing consistency across different sites. 👉 Decentralised Manufacturing Networks: adthera bio’s Stuart Curbishley discussed how decentralised manufacturing not only brings flexibility but also positions production closer to patients, and how important the integration of analytics into bioreactors is for optimising manufacturing processes. 👉 Challenges in Clinical Delivery: The talk led by Paul Ferguson and Francesca Kinsella shed light on the critical need for increasing manufacturing capacity. Their insights into the limitations faced by current facilities emphasise the urgency to expand cleanroom capabilities to meet patient needs, especially as new cell therapies are developed for indications with larger patient populations. 👉 Innovations in Digital and Machine Learning Applications: The panel featuring Stephen Goldrick, Marc-Olivier Baradez, Andrew Craig, and Kwok Pang highlighted the lack of digital readiness of current manufacturing platforms. The talk highlighted many benefits of digitisation and digital twins in manufacturing processes, and also delved into some of the current challenges that are being overcome, which will facilitate manufacturing processes becoming more digitised. The day was a fantastic opportunity to network with pioneers and gather insights that reinforce the importance of innovation and adaptability in the field of cell therapy. We’re looking forward to applying these insights to our projects and pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve in biotechnology! #AMC2024 #CellTherapy #Biotechnology #Innovation #MFX
