Standing in solidarity with World Central Kitchen, my heart is heavy with the news of humanitarian aid workers intentionally killed by the Israeli forces in Gaza, Palestine. Wishing there was more I could offer than the deep condolences —condolences that seem endlessly deep yet tragically shallow in the face of inaction. Equally tragic is the ongoing loss of volunteers and paramedics from the Palestine Red Crescent, a grim reality since the war’s outset, met with insufficient action or response. The attention and mourning for international workers contrast sharply with the relatively muted response for local heroes, highlighting a troubling disparity in global empathy and action. This stark divide in the value placed on lives, based on their international or local status, questions our collective commitment to humanity and equality. We must raise our voices, demanding a ceasefire and unified protective measures for these courageous individuals, and the urgent need for a global stance advocating for the safety and dignity of every aid worker, regardless of their origin. Action is needed now more than ever. #JusticeForAidWorkers
“These are the heroes of WCK. These 7 beautiful souls were killed by the IDF in a strike as they were returning from a full day's mission. Their smiles, laughter, and voices are forever embedded in our memories.” - Erin Gore, CEO. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eGS5_J8K
