'We want to talk to you about knife crime so you can support your children and help them make safe choices.' Asma Maya Joseph-Hussain, CEO of the Safety Centre. This week is #knifecrimeawarenessweek and we're talking about the importance of speaking with young people about #knifecrime. We invite all parents and carers to join us for our free upcoming knife crime virtual sessions for adults looking to support their children on this topic. We know that knife crime is on the rise and that tragically often young people are victims or perpetrators of #knifecrime. 78 young people under the age of 25 were murdered last year by a knife or weapon. 82% of homicides with teenage victims included a knife or bladed weapon, according to the latest stats from the Office for National Statistics. Here at the Safety Centre we are working to be part of the solution, and encourage all parents and carers to attend our Zoom workshops to help you begin conversations about this essential topic with your children. The just-released data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics’s National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) shows violent crime has soared under Biden-Harris. Under Biden, rape soared by 42%, robbery by 63%, and aggravated assaults by 55%. If you look at rape, robbery, and aggravated assaults (the NCVS doesn’t measure murder), between 2016 and 2020, violent crime fell by 15% under Trump and soared by 55% under Biden between 2020 and 2023. https://lnkd.in/ex8aPNez

The story of Ashish Nahar's tragic loss serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the devastating impact of knife crime. His family's courage to speak out as part of Bedfordshire’s "Just Drop It" campaign is inspiring and essential. Their call to end knife violence resonates deeply, as each act of violence leaves lasting scars not only on families but entire communities. Campaigns like "Just Drop It" highlight the human cost behind the statistics, encouraging young people to reconsider choices that lead to such senseless tragedies. Reducing knife crime requires collective action from families, communities, and law enforcement. By supporting initiatives that create safe spaces, offer mentorship, and discourage weapon carrying, we can work towards safer communities and prevent more families from enduring such loss. #SalusClothing #StaySafe #PersonalSafety #SlashProof #ProtectiveWear #SafetyInStyle #WearableProtection #UrbanSafety #Empowerment #SafetyFirst https://lnkd.in/dhaJpDgW

🔒 October is National Crime Prevention Month! 🔒 Now is the time to come together and take action to create safer communities. Whether it's securing your home, staying alert, or getting involved in neighborhood watch programs, we all have a role to play in reducing crime. 🔑 Tip of the Day: Trim tall hedges and trees around your home to eliminate potential hiding spots for cunning criminals. Well-lit, clear areas are less attractive to them. #NationalCrimePreventionMonth #StaySafe #CommunityMatters #CrimePrevention #SafetyFirst
