This is the typical, juvenile generative "AI video" smoke and mirrors. Let's take a look at the intentional misdirection in this train wreck of a video. It focuses on loosely defined aliens that look vaguely, but not actually exactly like one type of aliens in Star Wars. The key is they are worm-like with big misshapen asymmetric faces, heads, and bodies but no limbs and no normal digits (fingers or toes). Really hard right? Vague wormlike aliens. Intentional pick? Yes. Meanwhile the humans in this terrible trash video? Never the same person ever. And no human is shown for more than a second, and most for a fraction of a second. The thing we know the most, humans are avoided almost entirely. This is intentional. So what they really do is draw on the 'Star Wars' name in a trashy social media post garbage video, and then avoid anything that looks like classic star wars scenes, or characters, or weapons, or ships, or environments. They showcase a bunch of clumsy generic worm aliens with minimal limbs and digits. The expectation is that they're so misshapen that you don't realize they are badly constructed. And they fill up most of the space other than the occasional half-second generic human reaction. Wow. Really solid approach... to hiding all the flaws in this trash heap. Now I'm not even talking about the repetitive use of just a few amateur camera angles. I'm not even talking about the clumsy framing, terrible editing, bad dialogue, lack of narrative, or lack of recognizable grounding characters. This isn't the beginning of AI Video. This is the end. This is expensively created crap that in unfixable, barely watchable, boring, and silly. It avoids the uncanny valley by having almost nothing human in it. This video proves nothing except that AI video is trash. And is pushed by generative AI influencers, grifters, scammers, and evangelists who are quite simply blind to how bad it is. This is the end. Its not getting better beyond marginal improvements. This is over. AI video has a place in the future and it is trash content for spam email and social media enshittfication. Expensively created, freely consumer shit content that clogs up social media. And never draws consumer money. Generative AI is a joke. Good explainer as to why all these 'text to video' demos are not what they seem and functionally useless in a professional setting. Doesn't even get into how companies like OpenAI manually fixed mistakes in their tech demos because they were, frankly, embarrassingly worse than what they showed off.

So for a while I've been experimenting a number of audio plugins/tools to restore poorly recorded audio, mainly recorded through Zoom. I've been hearing a lot of good things about Accentize's DxRevive. I tried the basic version ($99) and when processed to about 20% to 30% it does a great job of restoring the voice without introducing artifacts or making it sound wonky. Any more than that and it does start to make the voice robotic. They do have a pro version ($299) that I haven't tried that gives you control over the processing for different frequencies. But overall its the simplest and best tool I've come across to solve this issue. Anyone else tried the basic or pro versions? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts. #audio #podcast #audiorestoration
