Register here; https://lnkd.in/gspnmSWm We’re excited to invite you to our newest initiative, the Youth Brain Injury Summit, to create positive education pathways for young people with brain injuries. For years, families have been asking why they can’t attend the professional learning courses that clinicians, educators and disability supports do. They also desperately need the knowledge, information and networks, to be able to positively navigate the complex path of raising a family impacted by brain injury. At the same time, our amazing network of volunteers have said that learning from lived experience has been one of the most impactful ways to learn and develop skills. So, we’re closing that gap and bringing everyone’s “Heads Together” so we can learn from each other, build stronger connections, and unite in our shared purpose of making the world a better place for young people with brain injuries. Inclusion must be the foundation for everything which is why we need all voices at this table, only through collaboration will we create pathways that really work, for everyone involved. So be brave and be part of this change by registering for our first ever Youth Brain Injury Summit! Register now for your ticket before they sell out! https://lnkd.in/gspnmSWm

Stroke and liminality: narratives of reconfiguring identity after stroke and their implications for person-centered stroke care What an excellent study! Joseph Hall Van Wijck Frederike Thilo Kroll Dr. Helena Bassil-Morozow. As care-partner and wife of a stroke survivor, your findings have "street cred". https://lnkd.in/gPuC353h When I looked at the figure that you created with the positive and negative factors, I could not help but relate it to the Palix Foundation, Alberta Family Wellness Initiative Resilience Scale. https://lnkd.in/gjmDru-b What is really important about the resilience scale is that doing well and reconfiguring post-stroke identity is that much of it depends on interactions with others! How do they treat you? Certainly that was a finding in the Getting on with the rest of your life after stroke project: Considering Material Culture in Assessing Assistive Devices: “Breaking up the Rhythm” https://lnkd.in/gYB2Z8JF

In "ADEM – My Journey of Strength and Hope", I share my personal experience of being diagnosed with Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM), a rare and often misunderstood neurological disorder. After developing ADEM following a routine vaccination, I embarked on a challenging year-long recovery journey, learning to navigate the physical and emotional toll it took on my life. Although ADEM affects only 1 in 250,000 people, my hope is to shed light on this condition and offer support and guidance to others who may be going through a similar experience. By sharing my story, I aim to raise awareness about ADEM, highlight the importance of resilience, and provide a message of hope for those affected by this rare disorder. Whether you are a patient, caregiver, or simply someone interested in learning more about ADEM, this book is a testament to the strength it takes to overcome adversity, and the power of hope in the face of uncertainty.
