Our colleagues Rhi and Emily spent their Headwater charity day at Conwy Bay with The Wild Oysters Project. Oyster reefs clean our coastal waters and create an important habitat for other marine animals. During their time here they were conducting biodiversity net surveys to record the mobile marine animals, photo surveys of oysters to record sessile animals in Conwy Marina, and assess oyster health. This session was hosted by the School of Ocean Sciences at Bangor University who are aiming to restore Britain’s seas to health through the restoration of the native oyster. Headwater charity days are part of our ongoing efforts as a certified B Corp, to give back to the environment. Emily, New Product Development Manager said: “This was great fun with a positive team! I’d definitely volunteer on this project again.” #thewildoystersproject #headwaterholidays #activetravel #conservation #charitydays

This holiday season, First Climate is embracing the spirit of giving over gifting. 💚 Instead of sending corporate gifts, First Climate is proud to support Associação Mico-Leão-Dourado (AMLD) as part of our annual “Giving Over Gifting” campaign. Our 2024 Christmas donation will help protect the endangered golden lion tamarin and its home — the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest. 🌳 🐒 🌴 AMLD works tirelessly to restore rainforest habitats, create wildlife corridors, monitor invasive species, and run vaccination campaigns to protect these remarkable primates. Their efforts have already helped grow the wild tamarin population from just 200 in the 1970s to around 4,800 today. By supporting AMLD, we’re not just protecting wildlife — we’re contributing to local communities and global climate action. Because sometimes, the best gift isn’t wrapped — it’s wild and free. 💚 Learn more about how Associação Mico-Leão-Dourado is making a difference here: https://lnkd.in/eXtdBRCc #GivingOverGifting #GoldenLionTamarin #Rainforest #ClimateAction #Sustainability #Brazil #Donation Luis Paulo Ferraz

Let your appreciation drive action in this season of gratitude. The Important Marine Mammal Areas (IMMA) programme has made significant progress to identify key marine habitats ripe for conservation, but the North West Atlantic - one of the most impacted regions - still needs our attention. Supporting IMMAs is not just a charitable act - it’s a reinvestment in the future of the yachting industry. By protecting these vital habitats, we’re fostering healthier oceans and ensuring long-term access to the pristine destinations on which the yachting community depends. Will you join us in facilitating a lasting impact for yachting, marine life, and our precious ocean? Great mention for KMTT in the article about the impact of celebrities on project profiles.
⭐️ "Anything that generates positive focus on a project is welcome." Emma Dent spoke to RNZ last week about the different ways conservation organisations can get recognition for the work that they do. "Comment from people with the high profile of Leonardo DiCaprio, who are champions of nature, are certainly a good way of drawing attention to an issue when it is something that the person cares deeply about, and we can see that it aligns with their values." https://lnkd.in/gBddTmd6 🎥 Last year, BBC's Our Frozen Planet aired a 12-minute short film about the Kotahitanga mō te Taiao Alliance. "This created great interest in the project as it helps to bring it to life for prospective donors. "We've had a couple of bigger and unexpected international donations coming in since the programme screened, and hundreds of thousands of views." Dear Friends, Monarch butterflies have truly stolen my heart. There’s something special about their charisma—it draws people in, sparking curiosity and building connections, especially for kids, to the natural world. Monarchs serve as an umbrella species, helping us recognize the beauty and importance of all insects and their vital role in our planet’s health. When we care for monarchs, we care for so much more. Healthy monarch habitats mean healthier soils, cleaner water, thriving plant and animal life, and the pollination of crops that sustain us. That’s why I’m a proud supporter of the Monarch Joint Venture (MJV). Sadly, monarch populations—both in the eastern and western regions—have plummeted over the past 20 years, and they are now listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Their incredible migration to Mexico, one of nature’s greatest wonders, is at risk. The Monarch Joint Venture is the leading resource for monarch conservation in the U.S., coordinating efforts among 200+ partner organizations- including agencies, NGOs, farming groups, and businesses. They advance science, educate the public, and lead the charge in building and restoring habitat across the country. Their work is **more important than ever**. I invite you to see the broad, beautiful impact of this conservation work and consider supporting MJV with a **tax-deductible gift**. Together, we can help protect monarchs—and so much more. Learn more and donate here: https://lnkd.in/dTKXgjqt Please let me know if you made a donation. I’ll be forever grateful💚 #Conservation #biodiversity #soillife #airquality #waterquality #MonarchButterfly #MJV

🐺 Only 10 days left to reach the goal! Please consider making a small donation to help build eco bridges (wildlife crossings) for the critically endangered Red Wolves in North Carolina—fewer than 25 remain in the wild. Eco bridges are a tangible, visible action that can make a real difference in protecting these incredible animals. In addition, any contribution will help secure additional federal funding for future conservation efforts. Why I support this initiative: Eco bridges are not just a lifeline for the Red Wolves, but they can also inspire broader conservation and green initiatives across the country. On our run up to £1bn in charity pledges, who better to hear from this Earth Day than our partners at World Land Trust? They’ve told us that… “Gifts in Wills pledged through Farewill give us huge encouragement for the future of species and habitats worldwide. World Land Trust is working globally with more project partners than ever before to urgently protect and restore wild land. We are delighted that through Farewill we can help our supporters write their wills while achieving an incredible impact for the natural world.” We’ve partnered with World Land Trust since 2020, as the power behind their legacy giving campaigns. It’s fantastic to hear about the brilliant work they’re doing. Together with their overseas project partners, World Land Trust has been instrumental in the purchase and protection of tropical forest and other threatened habitats, ensuring that more than four million acres of land is managed under active protection worldwide. They’ve established wildlife corridors as safe havens for the Asian Elephant, Tiger, Orang-utan and many other species. And they’ve empowered local people working with 30 conservation NGOs across the world, to help fund land purchase, wildlife reserve management, and rangers’ salaries. From sharing skills and experience to influencing governments, they’re protecting the environment and the many lives and species that depend on it. At Farewill, we’re highlighting the effect that leaving a gift in your will can have. We partner with charities across the UK and together, we’ve raised nearly £1bn in pledged donations. That’s a massive impact on charities for years to come. 💚 #legacygiving #charityfundraising #legacies #earthday
